After watching the episode again, I'm not only pretty sure it's a Dream Lord hacked emergency hologram controlling the TARDIS, but the reason Amy doesn't remember the Dalek invasion is because the Amy the Doctor picked up was after he, himself, was locked in the Pandorica. This season has basically been a big paradox, hence the cracks in the universe.

That doesn't quite work, because the Atraxi in that episode clearly had records of the Daleks (and a bunch of other invading aliens as well), and of the Doctor.

But there's got to be some sort of paradoxical, timey-wimey thing going in, I think...

That's the thing, though. The first episode had all kinds of oddities going on, particularly with the TARDIS itself. It seemed unable to unwilling to deliver the Doctor to the same place he left... not just once, but twice. There very easily could have been some timey-wimey stuff going on while the TARDIS was trying to repair itself.

Besides, that's the Atraxi's knowledge. No one's suggesting the Dalek's vanished from history the moment the Doctor was imprisoned (if that were a possibility, they'd certainly never allow it). Nor is it necessary for the Doctor himself to have been removed from their memories; they were there to imprison him afterall, so they'd be savvy to the situation and fully aware of who and what he was even after the temporal changes that occurred.

Heck, we even know that time travelers and other enlightened species are able to resist the effects of changes to the timeline, and practically everyone who was there to imprison him was a time traveler. Though how they traveled there is anyone's guess -- probably the Dalek's contribution to the alliance.

But yeah, anyway, it's still easily explainable why the Atraxi were aware of the Doctor, the Daleks, and everything else while Amy wasn't. The Doctor's influence on Earth was significant. As far as we know, he's only ever had one encounter with the Atraxi, and it was over and done with in the blink of an eye. His imprisonment would have far less impact on them than it would Earth's inhabitants.

A really big question, though, is why isn't Earth destroyed/conquered/complete screwed up without the Doctor around? Sure, his presence and involvement lead to some of those encounters he thwarted, but there were plenty that weren't his fault.

Your first episode and my first episode are completely different. ;)

But his is correct and yours is not. ;)

Depends on whether or not you define the current Doctor Who as being the same program that premiered in 1963, or if you define it as a separate program with the same name. Certainly the fact that "Rose" is considered episode one of Series One points in favor of the latter rather than the former. ;)

If he had said, "first episode", I might agree. But he said, "very first episode". Doctor Who is Doctor Who. "Very first episode" is not vague. It means, "An Unearthly Child". "First episode" is sufficiently vague. It can mean, "Rose" or "An Unearthly Child". Ergo, if he meant "Rose", he misspoke.

Not this whole mess again, Doctor Who is Doctor Who, it went off the air for a while and came back in 2005. It's the same continuation of the same series.

Yeah it's accepted that way now. But I remember people questioning early on whether it should be accepted as official or if it was just another short-lived experimental thing like the TV movie (before that was also made official).

You're telling the wrong guy, pal. I'm on your team.

Is anyone else as excited as I am for sat? I don't think I was even this excited for "End of time" :)
YES!!!!!

I'm frustrated at how little spoilers there are out there.

Dear god! is that what River meant by him looking so Young when they first met?

He's going to spend the next two thousand years being quite buried alive, and forever after when he'll be toting off about his age, mr grumpyface is going to have to proclaim that he is almost 3000 years old now if they don't dig him up till modern day.

Though I wonder if Captain Jack puts in the birthday candles on his cake for the years he was buried or Miles O'Brien the extra 20 years from DS9 Hard Time or Teal'c his additional decades from the final of Stargate SG1?

That would be really sad if that happened to him. Poor Doctor. :(

I second this statement, I am extremely excited about the next episode.. what a brilliant twist of fate that was, the Pandorica is the prison for the most dangerous creature in the entire universe..

the doctor! wow! I? was half expecting a god or davros, or something.. nice misdirection, and a cool one at that!:techman:

Yeah I'm fascinated by the lack of spoilers as well...RTD's era was notorious for leaks and spoilers but The Moff seems to have put everything on lock down (or in the Pandorica...is that going to be a fan term now? :)

The only thing that worries me about the next episode is a big whopping reset at the end of some kind. I think there has to be some kind of reset, but if it's so major, like Amy not knowing the Doctor or something, that will be disappointing. Other than that, I am looking forward to this finale. This might be my favorite season of the series (In this century for those purists out there ;) ) and can't wait to see how it ends.

I don't think there will be any kind of reset but I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some kind of Timey Wimey stuff involved. I believe it has been discussed and confirmed by other posters that Karen is coming back next series. One thing that I've no doubt about is that we'll be talking about the finale through the rest of the summer and fall and towards the Christmas Special (yes don't forget we still have a new Christmas special following the finale)!
