Last of the summer wine.
I think it ran from 1973-2010.

Hero's.
Loved the first series never made past episode two of the 2nd series.
A-Team S5 - They changed the format of the show. The A-team got caught and was working for the government doing spy missions outside the US. Ratings sank and the season was cut in half before the show was canceled.
Seriously? There were dozens of classic episodes after that."The Simpsons", about season 8.
Scrubs. They knocked out a hell of a finale and then renewed it with Zombie Scrubs. That season wasn't without its charm but they really should have left it where it was. It tarnishes the actual show to a certain degree.
I see that we've made if so far down the thread without a single mention of the woeful 'Til Death yet!
Surely the worst TV show to have EVER been renewed.
After taking it off the air due to extremely low ratings, what was its reward? Cancellation? Nope, a full season order. WTF?![]()
I'll add Family Matters. It turned into a sci-fi show.
Especially after the move to CBS for the final season...
And along those lines, I'd add Perfect Strangers to the list too...
"Stargate: SG1", the end where they are all sitting at JAck's place, while he fishes -- that was a nice way to end the series. Put in some TV movies to kill the baddies off and tie up loose ends, and it would have made a well rounded series.

That was season 8. Personally, I think seasons 9 and 10 shouldn't have happened. TPTB should have used all of their resources to make Atlantis better instead of that weird Ori storyline.
I can also see reasons to cancel SG-1 after seasons 5, 6, and 7 as well.
With THREE extra series.Hero's.

If they'd cancelled it after one season, we'd all be mourning its great lost potential. It was for the best that they amply demonstrated that there was nothing for us to mourn.
