^ I'm convinced they will. All they need do is avoid England in the last-16 and then they're set.
As I don't really have a TV (I could watch TV on my computer, but I don't think that all games are on free tv) I did a bit of research where I could watch the games if I wanted. I've found something that sounds quite good and fun (I'm not really fond of smoky sports bars). They say you can only attend when you're 18 or older. Now I wonder what youth endangering things they're up to.

Decent game and a fair result. Neither side played particularly well throughout.

Good solid start to the match and Mexico for all there possesion just looks like headless chickens but South Africa threw together some nice attacks together and it was a wonderful goal. The post stopping the win for South Africa was just heartbreaking

It was a boring match, neither of the two teams will have anything to do with the later stages of the tournament imo. South Africa impressed me a little though, which is good for the tournament.

It was a good match. South Africa played very well, and the atmosphere when they scored that first goal went through the roof.
Mexico played a lot poorer than I was expecting. They were quite lucky to equalise, since there were no defenders around the goal when they did.
So, a shame for the hosts that they didn't win, but at least they avoided defeat, and a draw is a fair result.

I got Portugal in one - and North Korea in the other. One sweepstake (The first) will pay out something for the top two and the worst team, the other for the top eight teams if I remember correctly.

Usually I really like the French squad, but Raymond Domenech annoys the crap out of me and I totally want that asshole to fail... I mean, not bringing Benzema and Nasri... Facepalm.
I'm not sure Uruguay will kick their asses though, but Mexico could, and RSA has the home field advantage (host nation never failed to qualify for the knockout stage).

Good game. Gutted RSA hit the post right at the death. Great goal to open the tournament though.

It's pointless since we already know that he will be replaced by Laurent Blanc after the world cup, whatever the result is.

I halfway wonder what the TV ratings will be here for the US game tomorrow. The general reaction I got from people I've talked to was that they would check it out for a bit if they were home, but weren't going to plan their day around it.
I'm curious to see how it will rate against Lakers-Celtics Game 5 Sunday.
I fucking hate those stupid trumpets so much I can't even put it in words. The worst thing is that it isn't even a fun, enjoyable atmosphere when they are winning. It's no singing it's not cheering, it's just a constant fucking buzzing completely regardless of what's happening on the pitch. I hope South Africa doesn't get into the next round only because of that.
And re: France v Uruguay - normally I would clearly be rooting for Uruguay, but if France wins I'll at least know Carrie will be pleased, which is alright with me too.
