They keep promising us a hot summer in Cornwall.
Every year they say it has to be time, we haven't had one for ages, and every year we have 2 hot days in May and then it's cloudy and raining for the rest of the year. And we just had 2 hot days

It was a really cold winter, so cosmic karma demands we have a hot summer!
OMGWTFBBQ it's five degrees cooler today--but it feels even hotter and more humid than yesterday.

Might be the way the weather system is moving across Ontario. Still pretty hot here for those of us a few hundred km east of you.
Supposedly there's a chance a thunder storms but places north-east and west of here have been getting it.

I'm in Sudbury. We just had a thunderstorm roll through, so we're finally getting some relief--the temperature's down to 21. They're forecasting a low of 17 tonight.
But I swear, my office was even hotter and muggier today than it was yesterday. Maybe they turned on the heat in the building, or something.

we are about a month ahead on our temps.
we are already flirting with 90f temps.
and since the flood and rain since then.. well we often run between 80 - 90 percent humidity.
with the very high pollen counts it can be pretty interesting outside.

Haven't been to Sudbury but my wife's cousin lives there. We got an invite to her wedding last January but getting to Sudbury for Jan 2nd wasn't quite possible.
Aside from the wedding, you didn't miss much.
Sudbury's not the hellhole that many people seem to think it is. In fact, since they built the superstack, they've made a pretty determined and successful effort to re-green the place. So it's actually quite attractive in some parts.
But it's not a very interesting city, overall. It's also very poorly laid out. The roads are bad, the public transit system sucks, and the university is hampered by its location--it's out in the middle of nowhere, on the edge of town, so there's very little for students to do on and around campus.
I liked Hamilton better--I lived there for six years, after I moved to Ontario from the Prairies. The only advantage Sudbury has over Hamilton is its climate, which is usually cooler and drier than down south. This past week reminded me of summer in the Hammer--and not in a good way.
Here in Calgary they are forecasting record lows. It is supposed to be a high of plus 5 today with snow. Areas around the city have been hit with a lot of snow already and highways were closed due to low visibility and poor driving conditions. I would take this any day over +30 temps plus humidity. No way would I want to be in the east right now.
Yeah, so I recall from when I was there. It's image is definitely a holdover from the 70s, but the city is much nicer than most people expect it to be. I certainly prefer Sudbury to, say, North Bay. Science North is pretty cool, too, though I suppose that alone does not make for an interesting city.
34's waaay too hot for me. 17-23 with a light breeze and mild clouds is perfect.
Incidentally, I was discussing this with someone the other day.
Living in Calgary, we get a good mix of all weather except humidity. Negative 30's in the winter, stinkin' hot 30's in the summer; rainy springs and dusty autumn. It never gets boring--and while I may experience temporary discomfort when we're in the extremes--I love it that way.

I took my bike to work on Thursday because I've been taking it to work for two weeks now and I was thinking I was on a roll and didn't want to lose my inertia, so to speak--*Huge* mistake, my fingers felt like they were going to break off.
Yeah, I saw a couple of Facebook posts from friends in Edmonton today about the snow. *shudder*
While I hate winter with the heat of a thousand suns, I don't deal well with the heat of a thousand suns, either. Over the last couple of weeks, when I've been leaving for work, it's usually been about 16-20C. By the time I get to my stop on the subway and get to the bus bay about 45 minutes later, it's 30, and it only gets hotter after that. And since the area of Mississauga where I work is all paved and there are no tall buildings for shade, going outside is miserable.
