Yeah, the part that really surprised me is that he didn't go to prison. So I guess the movie will find him wherever he decides to go and hide.

At this point 24's America should just give-up on the whole "President" thing.
Very good ending that makes for a decent lead-in for a movie series.
I'll be in and out the next few days with comments in this thread but I'm giving my coda now.
My boss during 24's first run tried to get me to watch the show but I was never really interested, I heard good things about it and picked up on the series in the Second Season and started heavily following it in Season 3. I think it wasn't until Season 4 that I started doing these threads, I think someone else inconsistantly hosted them before them.
They've been a blast and this show, for my money, has been one of the better ones of the last decade and Jack is one of those ever-lasting characters. This series has had its ups and downs and as I said up-thread it went into silliness sometime in Season 4 but throughout Jack's brand of awesome has made the show watchable, coupled with Chloe's brand of awesome and snark we had a great and fun team.
It's interesting how much we know about Jack and how much we've connected with the man after only seeing eight days (plus two hours) out of his life as opposed to months or years of time and growth with other TV characters. This threads have been a blast, everyone (Mr. Adventure, Pro, Squiggy, Neroon) has made them that way and I'm going to miss them, aside from Smallville no other TV series discussion really generates this much snark, memes and humor.
It's been a great, run, guys. I'll see you around for the movie(s).

At the rate 24 goes through politicians...there's probably been 40-50 Vice Presidents in the past year.

So that's the end of the run for 24 (movie aside). It was a good series, barring stupid decisions made by everyone in-universe. Not the least of which was not following the advice "listen to Jack Bauer".

A pretty satisfying conclusion that wraps up a good deal of the 8th day but also sets up stuff for a possible big screen or maybe TV or STDVD movie. I remember Alias and 24 both debuting about the same time and they became must see TV for me, but man Alias devolved after S2 and I found its finale burdened by the weight of a stupid overriding story arc, whereas the 24 finale crackled along. It was good acting by everyone, tightly focused, and fast paced. And surprisingly there is still life left in the show whereas I was glad to see its contemporary Alias go.

I only loathed Season 6, but I did give up on Season 7. I liked the Redemption movie, but I was still scarred by the previous season to fully trust the show again.
