Ashes to Ashes Series 3 (may contain Spoilers)

It would hardly be a Dire Straits song title anyway. First of all they are sooooooo boring (I say this even though I went to the same school). Secondly if they were doing another one would it not follow that it would be set in the 90s so maybe Thursday's Child or Dead Man Walking following the Bowie thread.

I loved the ending and the Dixon of Dock Green thing was a nice touch since he came back from the dead too.

Dire Straits rule!

But yeah it'd be a Bowie sont title anyway, and it would be a lot more professionally done! Besides what would be the point?

Given how A2A ended, ie. perfectly, any further continuation would run the realistic risk of spoiling what at the moment stands as a 'perfect' piece of television.

They couldn't do it anyway since Bowie didn't write anything good enough in the 90s. :)

Or big enough, at least.

90s follow-up would be pointless, I reckon. OK, the early 90s had some pretty distinctive signifiers (early rave culture, grunge etc.), but is there really THAT much of a difference between now and the mid-90s, technological advances aside? I don't think so.

And anyway, now that an explanation has been given for the "time warps" and Gene Hunt, I really don't see the point in having the same thing happen to another modern-day copper.

Oh, and this ending was brilliant.

I really enjoyed the last episode, certainly it was different from life on mars not sure which one of the two i prefer more. but it definitely had its good points im glad there was closure for more characters in this than there was in life on mars.

as for a potential for another show before the finale i always thought it would be fun if they had gene hunt turn up in the modern day police, to see how he coped or something similar to that,

Yeah but it's hardly an anthem for the decade, innit?
Were Ashes to Ashes or Life on Mars? Honestly? Maybe Life on Mars but I can't say I remember Ashes to Ashes very well...
That's because you were a mere whippersnapper at the time, young fella me lad. When the Scary Monsters album/Ashes To Ashes single came out I was one happy fat teenager. And a few years later I saw him play it live.

So nanas to you with knobs on, young snotty. Not that you care...

:D

Well, i'd venture Ashes to Ashes was written in 1979 since it was recorded in Feb 1980. And since that was on the last truly great album he made, I don't reckon he wrote one in the 80s either :p

I wasn't even born when it was released, so :p
