Ashes to Ashes Series 3 (may contain Spoilers)

I really wish John Simm would make an appearance, and I'm holding out hope that he will, even if it's for a minute or two. I'm keeping that expectation low, and don't think I would be too sad if he didn't show.

Both times someone knocked on Alex's door, I was half-expecting to see Sam Tyler standing there...
Me too.

Can't believe it's all over next week. No more life on mars, ashes to ashes, no more spin offs. All our questions answered.

When the guy walked up to Chris and all you saw was the back of his head and Chris said "You?" I thought that was gonna be Sam.

Well that was another great episode, love how the South African guy said "this must never come out" thus negating the whole ANC bombing London that never happened.

Really interesting, and I can't wait to see how it all ends because I really don't have a clue (only hope I'm not as dissapointed as I was with LoM's ending...)

Interesting that Chris heard the black barman from LoM. At the time I always felt that he was perhaps some kind of God like character, always on hand to give Sam good advice and he did often sound quite mystical. Of course as the show went on he seemed to be what he was, just a barman...now I'm not so sure.

I'm also wondering if Jim, rather than being some supernaural character, isn't just a regular person who's got it in for Gene (and is quite possibly nuts)

The mangled PC; Gene? Jim? Or someone else??

Hopefully we'll find out Friday.

Great episode this week. I really can't wait to see how they wrap everything up, sad though it will be to see the show come to an end. I'll miss the Gene genie.
I thought Sam was going to be there when Chris said you then again when someone knocked on Alex's door:lol:

Heh, I guess there's only one way to end it. Either there is some silly alternate universe thing and Simm does show up (which is expected since they kept showing his picture over and over again, not to mention that crazy guy who had "the answers") or it becomes the ultimate tease and Tyler becomes a metaphor for Alex's struggle and she is having an independent hallucination.

I think Jim is some version of death but not just for Gene for all of them. I wonder if Gene is preventing all of them from truly dying and Sam knew this so he gave up his life so the rest could avoid the ultimate fate of nothing-ness.

There are a few Angels of Death. One, Samael, is described as "a figure who is accuser, seducer, and destroyer, and has been regarded as both good and evil." - Certainly sounds like Jimbo.

Another one, the archangel Michael is described "Michael is the protector of Israel, who will stand for Israel during the time of the End." - Could be Gene.

Personally though, I doubt they'd go down the religious route that expressly.

That does sound a lot like Jim, though he seems more obviously to be veering towards evil now.

Watching the early episodes from season 3, and remembering some things from the later episodes I'm fairly sure that Chris, Ray and Shaz are dead. Their respective LoM moments come after each of them overcomes a personal fear - Shaz with the screwdriver, Ray with the fire, and Chris with either the whistle or standing up to authority. The actual LoM moments come after Gene acknowledges these triumphs - Shaz when he offers her a job in CID, Ray when he says the three little words "Well done Ray", and Chris when the guv shakes his hand and hugs him. Each of these moments IMO represents them being ready to move on.

I think Sam discovered the truth of this (possibly from Nelson), and not wanting to leave Annie, decided to get himself out of the picture and away from Gene so that he couldn't be rewarded or acknowledged for overcoming his greatest fear, whatever that might have been.

I'd imagine that somehow, Chris, Ray and Shaz's fears have something to do with how they died.

The dead copper I'm still not sure on.

I suspect that in the end, the VHS tapes will confirm the details around each of Chris, Ray and Shaz's deaths in the real world. The bittersweet end that we've heard about, I think will be that each of them moves on to the afterlife. Alex may return to the present day, which would leave Gene on his own, or she'll remain with Gene and thereby leaving Molly on her own in the real world, either way, bittersweet.

I'll now wait for tomorrow night to be proven completely wrong!

The most recent trailer doing the rounds is superb... which makes it all the more painful that due to my trip to Wembley I won't see this until Sunday evening!
