Ashes to Ashes Series 3 (may contain Spoilers)

It's airing in the UK right now. I acquire through other means and it'll eventually air on BBC America. I think I saw commercials for it last week.

Ah...other means. Well that leaves me out then.

But then again, I actually liked the US Life on Mars, so what the hell do I know. :p

Great episode, it's a shame we didn't have a few more like it. Looking forward to next week.

I still think the real Sam will turn up at the end of this season even if it's the last two minutes. The whole season is building to the truth about what happened to Sam.

John Simm's signed up for the new Moving On series, some of it being directed by Dominic West, believe it or not.

Simm strikes me as one of those actors who could get loads of gigs if he wanted but prefers to actually have a life as well as a job.

The new episode was perfect, and really built up the suspense going into the finale next week. most of the episode dealt with the over arching mysteries of the show, and going into next week, I doubt we'll even have a crime story involved. They certainly have a lot of story to tell in one hour.

My theory is is that Alex will find Gene Hunt's body in the grave next week (Gene is the dead copper in the photograph), and that Gene in death is running his world to save Alex, Chris, Ray Shaz, etc., who are all in comas. Keats is death.

going farther into speculation, just to make a fun prediction, I'll say that Keats, in his role as a reaper type character, has knowledge of the outside world and that the three tapes contain information relating to their deaths in the real world.

I really wish John Simm would make an appearance, and I'm holding out hope that he will, even if it's for a minute or two. I'm keeping that expectation low, and don't think I would be too sad if he didn't show.

If Chris, Ray and Shaz are all in comas, how can Jim have tapes relating to their deaths?

So, has it been confirmed/denied that Simm is going to appear in the finale? Or do casting spoilers just don't happen with UK shows?

The papers are always printing cast spoilers but they are mainly for soaps there as been northing printed in the papers about ashes to ashes though.
I do believe that the dead coper is hunt and that Keats is out to destroy his world.

Unless the dead copper is Jim Keats and Hunt was implicated in his death. Let's face it anything could happen. I liked the way the teasers for next week were so banal. Now that's what I call teasing.

Am going with Gene's body is there and that is the only thing preventing this whole reality from falling around them. I think Jim is some version of death but not just for Gene for all of them. I wonder if Gene is preventing all of them from truly dying and Sam knew this so he gave up his life so the rest could avoid the ultimate fate of nothing-ness.

Jim obviously can't directly bring down the world and needs others to do it for him, though that still doesn't explain why the origin of Gene nor why he would possess any sort of ability to basically save others from death in some way and bring them into his world. I wonder if Jim is just a front for some being aka death and maybe in the real world Gene and Jim once knew each other and died together.

Next week should be good.

I've been trying all sorts of avenues to get up to speed (only in early S2 here in Australia).

You bloody lucky TWATS! ;)

I think next week will end with Riker saying "Computer... end program."

Don't shoot me, I luvs ya all! :D

I was really proud of Chris standing up to the Guv. The real Guv, not freakin' nasty Jim.

I'm about halfway through the second series of Life on Mars, so I have a little bit more left of this universe. :)

I'd just like to say before the last episode next week that I appreciate all the responses to this thread, especially the UK viewers who get to see it first-hand. There won't be another series like LOM/A2A for a long while I reckon.

Luigi, a round for me mates! :D

Both times someone knocked on Alex's door, I was half-expecting to see Sam Tyler standing there...

Great episode this week. I really can't wait to see how they wrap everything up, sad though it will be to see the show come to an end. I'll miss the Gene genie.
