My change of heart Re: Nu Enterprise- anyone agree?

It isn't my favorite Enterprise, but it is pretty cool. It certainly makes for a better toy than the old ones did (which is really the important thing).

The ship does look much better in motion than it does standing still.

Yeah, and that's what really matters - it's a visual element designed to be part of a film, not a fetish for fans.

^ Wow, I've seen that image in nearly every thread I've clicked on in the last 24 hours. I may have seen your model more times than you have.

I know you're excited about it, but c'mon.

It's simply the coolest thing I've ever owned is all!
My inner 12 year old is out of control, I'll admit.
I'll just play wit- er, examine it's flawless beauty, & stop linking to it from now on, okay?
Sorry.:techman:

I don't know, I really like playing with my Playmates TOS Enterprise. And my Feruta TOS Enterprise. And my MicroMachines TOS Enterprise. IMO those are much better toys than the Abramsprise. At lease they're a lot easier to look at.;)

Wow. That is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! Me likey!!!

It looks like a kitbash of the TMP saucer with "alien ship of the week" parts slapped on for good measure.
YES.

The ship doesn't have any character. It looks like it was designed by commitee and rather than being a ship that earns its stripes through it's adventures it tries to 'wow' from the get-go and ends up looking like something that melted during the modelling process.

The NuEnterprise isn't that bad of a design. Not the best, it's grown on me to some extent.
Yeah, I can deal with it, but it's like, the first was the best, the second gave us new stuff, and the NuEnterprise is a mix of those two with some new lines thrown in.
Some day I'll be totally freaked out when a reboot uses the original designs of iconic ships & hardware.
But not I think today.

Plus, for those who absolutely *HATE* the NuEnterprise, check out the Lost In Space movie for a taste of true redesign Hell. Heh heh!!!!

I wonder if people felt the same when the tmp enterprise was revealed?

I've always liked the new enterpise and I can't believe it took all these years to make the viewscreen a window. It's a really pointless place for a bridge otherwise.

I don't blame you, it is a pretty f-ing cool model. I just think it's hilarious that you managed to work it into every thread. ;)

I fully accept the Nu E as being equal to the MP Refit E.
I never hated it as some did, in fact I kinda liked it from the start. But it has grown on me like a Denibian fungus.
If only Diamond Select could do a good Nu E!!!

Still, the Original one is best IMO.

Opinions?

Although I loved the new movie, I will be honest and say that I wasn't too thrilled about the new ship. However, I haven't been happy about any new Enterprises for a long time. I loved the Enterprise-D (and even the C in "Yesterday's Enterprise") but didn't like that the Ent-B was another Excelsior that we've seen a million times before. I didn't like the Ent-E, and absolutely hated the NX-01. Maybe the Enterprise-F, whenever it is shown, will break the curse.

For what it's worth, I feel that the nuEnt is a 23rd century ship built with 24th century technology reverse-engineered from scans that the Kelvin took of the Narada.

Back in '79 I remember feeling kind of unhappy with the angular nacelles & missing deflector dish... but I did come to embrace that design.

"I know {design peeps}, they love to change things.";)
