Playmates Action Figures

Yep, I either missed them, or they never reached the UK for some reason...

Actually, the silver biosuit was exclusive to Target (not sure if those only exsist in the U.S..

The blue biosuit was dropped from U.S. Target stores, but was still released in UK and Australia.

And the plum biosuit, which is the only Seven I have() was a Toyfare Magazine exclusive.

I've got a boxful of them too. I even had the Ent-D bridge for a while. I used to mix match the crews from TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY at the various bridge stations. Sold it on eBay a few years back for a decent amount, but I still have the figures. The ones I still have on card are the Borgified 7 of 9 and one of the catsuit versions, plus O'Brien from Trials and Tribble-ations. I think paid $20 for that one at a con a few years ago, so I would have all four of the DS9 in TOS uniform variants.

I was disappointed when they changed the scale, and I quit collecting then.

We have Target stores Down Under, but they didn't support Playmates' ST beyond the very early waves. There were definitely some carded Silver Sevens that made their way to Australia, though.

I bought a silver Seven from a vendor at Trek Expo maybe in '98/'99 (I was probably ten years old). I sure wish I kept that... they seem to be going for a pretty penny on eBay.

Therin, I know you custom figures (they look great, by the way) but have you ever tried doing a playset? I have an extra Enterprise-D bridge that is missing some part and I thought about giving that a shot.

Not really, although I did once have big plans to Borgify a plastic milk crate after seeing a wonderful customized Borg Cube, populated by lots of action figure drones, at a ST convention.

I do plan to do a few little touch ups on this, too:

Even this photographs well for a cardboard TOS bridge:

Yes I do, Have a rather large collection that spans from the beginning to the current movie.

I seem to remember having a Riker at one point, but most of the ones I had were brought out when The Motion Picture came out. (I don't think they were playmates though?)

They were a lot smaller than the Riker one though.

Mego did 8" TOS figures, then 3.75" and 12" for ST:TMP.

ERTL did a few 3.75" for ST III.

During the Playmates run, they did 5", 6", 9" and 12" figures, including some 5" ST:TMP retro figures.

Thanks. They'll have been the Mego 3.75 TMP ones then:)

I don't remember Mego as a company, but Memory Alpha does mention Palitoy as the UK distributor and they do ring a bell. Going off their list, I just had the first wave (Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Decker, Ilia and Scotty)
