Most ridiculous fashion trend?

FAKE BOOBS!

DON'T GET ME STARTED on boob implants. Bad, bad, bad. Even the good ones are bad.

Better flat than fake -- that's my motto!

You should certainly feel free to refrain from obtaining breast implants.

Yes, I intend never to get them, thank you.
I also think piercings are stupid and I generally hate make-up...especially eye make-up and eyeliner in particular. I think girls tracing black around their eyelids looks really tacky and a waste of time.
Women (and men in some cultures) have been using eye makeup for a few thousand years, so it's not likely to go away soon. Tasteful use of eyeliner, eye shadow and mascara can accentuate a woman's eyes and make them seem larger and more attractive.

Of course, anything can be overdone.

Another silly fad from my youth was pogs. I know I liked them for a short while, but I couldn't tell you why or how I got them. I'm just glad I didn't blow a lot of money on them. All the ones I had seem to have disappeared mysteriously...just like pogs themselves in the general consciousness.
What are “pogs”? Sounds like an insulting ethnic term.
. . . Another thing I don't like is ties. Who the hell ever thought of wearing a noose? Not only are they ugly, pointless and stupid, but they cut off the circulation to your brain.
The modern necktie is a vestigial form of the scarf or cravat which did have a function, namely to keep the cold winter air from blowing down your shirt. Today, it's merely a decorative accessory, like a pocket handkerchief. Does anyone really use a handkerchief for blowing their nose anymore?

They were cardboard or plastic little toys you collected. They were little cardboard or plastic discs and you stack them up and "slam" them together... or something. Sort of like a ghetto-version of jacks. They were popular in the mid/late '90s.

Pogs

And the winner is...

I'd rather see girls in croc shoes, with puffy sleeves, mushroom shirts, and coke bottle glasses everywhere for the rest of my life then anything with this guy's likeness on it, sold anywhere.

Dressing like you couldn't be bothered to buy the right-sized pants and/or wear a damn belt.

Oh, and in a few years actualy wearing your pants backwards.
I'll second this and this has been going on for quite some time. I can't understand, for the life of me, why some people make an attempt to look disheveled intentionally.

^ Maybe it's an attempt at rebellion against looking TOO good. In which case I can see their point. Fashion is all about trying to look good, to feed one's own ego; thus, deliberately looking like a slob is seen as a 'blow against the empire' so to speak. To show how truly useless and irrelevant all fashion is.

I don't get the piercing hate either. I'm not one for lots of piercings, but I don't think they're that awful. Tattoos aren't my thing either, but I actually don't think lower back tattoos are that bad. If I was at all interested in getting a tattoo, I'd consider getting one there.

Jeez, what is with people hating piercing? I don't even have any and I don't understand the hate.
Because it involves physical damage, poking holes in yourself. I feel similarly about tattoos, although there can be artistry there. And it's also a matter of degree. If somebody pierces their ears, they're just a conformist; if they pierce their genitalia, there are mental health issues involved.

While that's certainly not my cup of tea, is there some documentation to back that up or is that based on anecdotal observations you've made, or worse, just an assumption? I don't doubt that some men or women who do so might have mental health issues, but that seems like a pretty broad brush to paint people with, and I would hope that it at least has some basis in some reputable studies.

People do things that cause them physical damage and pain to some degree every single day for fun, fashion, fitness, and other purposes. Typing too much on the internet, wearing uncomfortable but good looking clothes, playing basketball, etc. can all cause temporary or long term pain. Is everyone who does these things mentally ill to a degree, and who decides where to draw the line between it being healthy and/or harmless behavior or not?

I have no problem with people saying they don't like piercings or tattoos, as that's personal preference and totally subjective. But when you start calling it possible mental illness I think you need to back that up.

Wasn't that called “grunge,” and didn't it go out with the old millennium?

I think self-mutilation of one's genitals pretty much diagnoses itself, doesn't it? :rommie:

3. Wearing your pajama bottoms (or "lounging-pants") to the store. WTH?! You can't throw on a pair of measly jeans?? What's next? Just your stained undies to the store?? :wtf:

AHA! Yes. This bugs the hell out of me, mainly because I seem to be living in the middle of a huge pyjama party. We even get parents taking their kids to school with robes and slippers.

Another thing I don't like is ties. Who the hell ever thought of wearing a noose? Not only are they ugly, pointless and stupid, but they cut off the circulation to your brain. Various studies have been done over the years demonstrating that reaction time and cognitive thinking are both reduced by wearing a tie, yet people consider them not only fashionable, but a business requirement. :wtf:

I've never worn a tie that wasn't loose (it's highly uncomfortable to me) but I quite like them. It breaks up the colour in my otherwise dull shirts.

Sadly, I'm unintentionally keeping that trend alive and well ;)

Corsets bug me. On the right person, they look great. Unfortunately I rarely see one worn in Glasgow by someone that doesn't have a huge build and hopes the corset will suck in a few inches of flab. Which just looks horrible, especially with a short skirt.

My new pet hate is stretchy jeans. Just.... no.

I don't wear ties either. I think I'm the only here (where I work) who doesn't.

Oh, and piercings look fucking stupid.
