Cloned Jadzia

TF mentioned in an interview I read recently that she'd love to come back as a clone of Jadzia if DS9 made it to the movies, short serial, or even series reboot (hmmm)

Sans the way you feel about a new DS9, if it DID happen would you welcome back Jadzia as a clone?

Yes, i think shes a great character and i think terry did an excellent job to carry out jadzia's character. :)

Do you have a link to this interview? I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'd just like to see it. I would be happy to see Jadzia back any way they could think of, even in a way as contrived as a cloning. Especially since convention footage tells me that Terry Farrell has aged rather gracefully (although the white in her hair is a little jarring)!

Have you seen that video 0n Youtube when she did that play with her husband, I think it was called soccer mum. She looks like she has aged gracefully and she hasnt got any grey in her hair. I think the play was done last year sometime?

technically is Trek, just not DS9 but here's part of the article

After leaving Deep Space Nine, Farrell stated that, if asked, she would love to return to Star Trek to play Jadzia as a clone, Jadzia from another universe or a hologram. She also stated she grew greatly from playing Dax and that she wouldn't change a second of her time with Star Trek.
Farrell's character, Jadzia, was not seen as a part of the flashback sequences toward the end of "What You Leave Behind". This was due to the circumstance that Farrell did not give the producers her permission to use pictures of her in those scenes. Although a scene was written for Jadzia in the final episode, budget costs meant they couldn't afford Farrell and the scene was never filmed.
At the Star Trek convention in 2007, Farrell said she wished she had not been so quick to leave Deep Space Nine, because "Jadzia Dax was the coolest character"; even Reggie can't compare: "It's hard to go from [playing] a hero to a neurotic, bad cook," she explained. At the Trek Las Vegas convention in the same year, she expressed her gratitude to the fans and their loyalty

Maybe she realized how pathetic her character was on Becker?

She went from playing an interesting and intelligent character on DS9 to some bimbo with constant mind-numbingly unfunny dialog while the studio mashed the canned laughter button.

But it's probably too late for her now. She has not really done any film or TV work since 2003 or so that I can tell and pictures that are at all recent don't show her as having aged particularly well.

^ Being as I'm no fan of Jadiza, I'm still going to have to disagree with you on how Farrell has aged.

This is her from six months ago....

She sure seems to have aged pretty well to me.

While Jadzia is my prefered Dax I guess it would probably come down to why she was cloned and if she adds something to the story or dynamic. If it is just clone Jadzia Dax it does seem a bit pointless. Cloned Jadzia without Dax might be interesting, seeing how she deal without the symbiont, maybe make her an antagonist who wants to get Dax back.

wow yeah that's not bad at all. The picture I saw was from a few years ago and it wasn't flattering at all, seems like she's gotten in shape.

Sure I'd like that. What I would hate is if we lost Ezri in the process since The host dies if the Symbiant is removed. But that would need to happen since the Jadzia clone could simply be an unjoined Trill.

Unless they bring that drug that allows the host to survive removing the Symbiant from the books into canon. Or clone Dax while their at it.

would you welcome back Jadzia as a clone?

Absolutely not. Jadzia had no useful purpose or function on the show whatsoever, and hence never should have been included in the cast in the first place. She should have died in the very first episode instead of waiting 6 years, or better yet, even before the first episode, or even better yet, she should have never existed at all.

Even worse, her smug attitude made her vastly annoying for every second she was on-screen, and all of her lines were spoken in the most wooden, mundane (a.k.a. boring) way possible (and the content of those lines matched).

Instead of what the OP asks, I would welcome a re-editing of DS9 where every single scene or mention of Jadzia is edited out. It would make no difference to the series whatsoever (which proves she was 100% irrelevant and useless to the show), other than to save the viewer from being reminded of all the precious screen-time wasted on the useless character that was Jadzia, and not having to be annoyed by her.

would you welcome back Jadzia as a clone?

No I want the real Jadzia back and I know how to get her and keep Ezri as well. Yes it does involve a parallel universe. Essentially everything in her universe is the same up until Tears of the Prophets. The big difference being that Jadzia goes to Chin'toka with Sisko while Worf stays behind and is killed by Dukat. Because of Worf's death Gowron leads the Klingon Empire to disaster in the Dominion War causing the Alpha Quadrant to lose. Of course that doesn't matter because Gul Dukat and the Pagh Wraiths fuck up the Dominion's party leaving everybody in the shit. Jadzia escapes to the Prime Trekverse to seek out Sisko's help in defeating Dukat. But once the battle is won decides to stay in the Prime Trekverse and rekindle her romance with Worf.

You can be confident without being smug. There's a difference. :klingon: Garak was smug. Dukat was smug. Jadzia? Not so much. :angryrazz:

No, she was definitely just smug. But this was offset for me by how nice she was to look at.

No thanks. She made the decision to leave the show and they replaced her. Even worse, she left DS9 to be on a crappy sitcom. If they (by some bizarre circumstance) ever bought back DS9 they should just go with Ezri.

I'm really not a big fan of either character, but a clone? Seriously? Or a mirror universe something or other? Ugh. Not thanks. The one thing DS9 did an awful job with was the MU.
