Me too.

Are these movies able to be remastered enough to be "blu-ray" or HD quality? They are pretty old.

That said, I am sill amazed how good 70 year old Three Stooges shorts look in SD-remastered, so maybe these will look as much better in Blu-Ray.

I've heard good things about the picture quality on this set, but I can't afford to pick these up right now. Need to find steady work before that.

You can read the review from High Def Digest.
Planet of the Apes: 40-Year Evolution Blu-ray Collection

I can't wait for the The Twilight Zone TV series to be released on Blu-ray this year. The The Twilight Zone: The Definitive Seasons DVD sets were telecined from the original camera negative to HD (just like TOS-R) from 1959 then downconverted for DVD release.

that Amazon.com sale was yesterday only. now back to $73.
request that this thread be deleted as is now moot.

Just for clarification, anything shot on film has the potential to look good on Bluray. Setting aside any technical flaws induced by human hands during the process of film-to-Bluray disc, film still has way more resolution than BluRay's 1080 lines.

This is why Star Trek TOS was able to be done on Bluray, it was shot on film, and all the FX were shot on film, and it was edited on film. TNG, DS9 and VOY, were all shot on film, but their post-production (editing, FX and such) were done on standard definition video, so they would require a massive investment to be able to take advantage of BluRay.

Eh, I got the 5 movie DVD set for £6.99. I'll stick with that.

I thought about gettin' this when I saw it as the gold box special, but I also went to Fry's Electronics the other day, and saw that they have the same box set in stock for only ten bucks more than the uber sale price from Amazon.

So, I decided I'll go that route, when I have the extra cash.
