Wolverine and the X-Men cancelled

Thanks X-Movies, you've made Cyclops look like a total loser to the general public!

Yeah, as much as I love "X2", I agree that Cyclops was totally misused in it (as well as in the other two). I don't think it seriously hurt the movie as it did pretty well without him, but you make a good point. As someone who enjoyed the way the 90s X-Men animated series kept Cyclops consistently in a leader role and used that to create tension between he and Wolverine (instead of it being caused only by the Jean love triangle), I too think it's disappointing that the movies shunted him to the side so much.

I remember how in the first one, my friends in high school were laughing their asses off making fun of him for his cheesy "stay away from my girl" line and his visor looked way too big and silly (thankfully they improved it in the sequels). He's knocked out off screen for most of "X2", he looks like a total wuss at the end (as I said, the worst part of an otherwise nearly perfect movie), and he's killed early in the third one. Not the finest hour for Cyclops. :(

Someone had the idea to re-invigorate his character (while still having Wolverine be the focus character for us to meet the X-Men through), would've been to have had there be a falling out between Cyclops and Xavier that Scott ended up defecting to the Brotherhood before the movie started so he'd be with them when we first see him. That way Scott would've been the focus character for the audience to have met the Brotherhood and Magneto through. Then he gets upset over the whole "Sacrifice Rogue" thing and goes back to Xavier, either helping them out at Liberty Island or going back to them before that.

Then the rivalry between him and Logan would be half over Jean and half over Logan not being happy that everyone just welcomed back a guy Logan only ever saw as an enemy. For future movies.

Certainly the most accurately adapted comic-movie of all time.

I think a couple of other comic book-based movies are more deserving of that appelation: Spider-Man and Iron Man come to mind.

Back to the topic: I saw a few eps of the series, and it wasn't bad. I do wish Cyclops, as one of the oldest and most pivotal X-Men, would have gotten better treatment in this series and in the movies.

Cyke has always been a favorite of mine, so I hope he's used better in the future, both in the comics and cartoons. I must admit that separating his character and Jean Grey has been the most welcome change to his character in the comics, but not too crazy about the whole Emma Frost deal.

Well, not quite. Those movies are fairly faithful to the general mythology and character of those heroes, but they're amalgams of story elements from many different comics combined with new elements (such as organic webshooters or a computerized Jarvis). Sin City, I gather, is an almost shot-for-shot, line-for-line adaptation of a specific story. So it's much more exact.

Line for line, shot for shot (they used the comics themselves as storyboards) of 4 stories all done in an "anthology" fashion for the movie.
