Strategic Designs' TOS Conny plans

I hope I don't have to drag up that cutaway poster or one of Probert's drawings to show that the refit's nacelles absolutely do NOT generate power, they use it.

If I recall, dialogue specified that the Enterprise's "Automation Center" had been hit.

It was "knocked out", not "hit".

So it could have been damaged by power shorts, spikes, and what not from the torpedo impacting on the half-raised shields. We know very well how delicate starship systems can be to torpedo fire =).

The main power systems were still running on patches and stop-gaps, and without engineering personnel, it was likely being run completetly on automation at the time.

I think a saftey interrupt probably switched main power off after the automation center was knocked out, to prevent the reactor(s?) from spiraling out of control.

That seems to make the most sense to me.

"Very good..."
