Average. Good stuff with the POTUS in the War Room, but the Veep's heart attack sure came at a convenient time. :rommie: I was expecting it to be a ruse...but no...just sloppy writing.

Not buying Traitorous Starbuck one whit. Isn't this the same cowardly woman who was quaking at the idea of her white-trash boyfriend ratting her out and couldn't figure out how to handle the situation without fucking everything up? Now she's Ms. Cool Double-Agent. Why didn't she just call on her terrorist buddies to have the guy killed in the first place? Blergh.

I kind of dozed off right then and there and didn't bother rewinding. Ethan Kanin had a heart attack?? I thought he got drugged or something. :wtf:

Better than last week, but that's not saying much. I like how Fox is pushing the final season now, with less than half the season left.

He's the Secretary of State, not the Veep. And it didn't seem that contrived to me. It was established early on this season that he had a heart condition, and needed pills for it during stressful times. Honestly, I'm surprised the writers waited this long to play that card. I was sure Bob Gunton would have been out after the first six episodes at most after they mentioned his heart condition.

On the other hand, the two other guys involved, the "General" (of...something ) and the Chief of Staff are acting insane. You would think the President would do a better job appointing people to work under her! The betrayal in season two worke because the groundwork was laid at the very beginning of the season and was allowed to slowly pay off. The Chief of Staff becomes a part of an insane proposition in a matter of minutes because...well, that's what the plot demands.

I found the part about a nuclear bomb going off in NYC being this huuuuge deal which would bring the country to its knees laughable in the context of this series. Obviously in the real world it would be absolutely catastrophic, but the 24 America ("fuck, yeah!" ;)) has already had TWO nuclear devices detonated on its soil, one of which killed a whole lot of people in LA in early season 6. Neither event caused much of a stir within the general public, not that we ever have time to see what they're thinking...we're too busy watching moles and other boring subplots. The blatant disregard for these past events is of course a 24 hallmark, but it's funny when it's directly exposed like in tonight's ep.

The action in the tunnel was fun, and it was pretty great to see Pres. Hassan catching the gun and transforming into Action Hassan. Starbuck is still boring, the President's speech in the War Room was good but not nearly as inspiring as the music would lead us to believe, and Ethan having a heart attack was . Yet again we have rogue elements within the administration, although naturally I'm not surprised.

I'm certainly interested to see where they take the story now that it's officially the final season. I wonder how much they already have filmed, and how much the last episode will feel like a true series finale, rather than just a season finale. Will Jack's heavily foreshadowed "you could puncture your lung!" from the beginning of this episode come true?:eek::eek:

That would be the pinnacle or retarded writing considering Jack's basically been Superman the past couple of seasons, having been shot, stabbed and tortured this season alone with pretty much zero consequences by the next episode when all of those things are completely forgotten.

Wait, I take that back. Dana turning into a hardcore mole is the pinnacle of retarded writing. This would only be a small step.

I'm giving this a Bad. I wasn't impressed with this at all.

I get the feeling that Dana is not working directly for Samir, and possibly not even "the IRK". She's working for someone else and has been ordered to help Samir.

Yup, I agree, Hope we don't have another secret group pulling the strings, that has been done to death.

I loved the whole evil General "Jack Bauer vs elite nazy seals? Hahahahaha He has no chance." bit.

Wow. I was laughing so hard. It's like the writers are actually deliberately trying to be cliche.

^Yeah, he did sound like the Emperor when he told Luke that he'd sent "an entire legion" of his best troops to Endor.

We last saw the VP during season seven when the White House was taken over by Candyman. Ineffective and a weasel. I'd rather the writers didn't bring him (or the 25th Amendment) back this year.

I think they almost HAVE to bust out the 25th amendment to really nail every possible cliche. Either that, or President Tailor is the mastermind behind the bad guys, and Marwan's plan is continuing to come to fruition.

Yeah, that's true. Perhaps he was replaced. One could hope, at least.

Probably best episode of the season and the plot within the cabinet is more believable than the stupid Dana story. I wonder how they will get to the bomb within 15 minutes. I guess Jack will use President Hassan or whatever his name is (with his consent) to play the terrorists into a trap and then president eill probably die a same time since 24 is getting predictable.

For me, it was good to see Christina Cox again, and the second appearance this week of Michael Erby (The Unit - Carlito Grey).

Other than that, it felt too predictable:(
