Wow. It's certainly very busy and colorful.

In fact it almost looks like something the 6th Doctor would be at home in. :D

Looks like something Salvador Dali would do after a night on the cheese..

Can't say it's what I was hoping for - that would have been a white & shiney return to the classic series console rooms for inspiration.

However, it's not bad. My only criticism is that it looks a bit too much like a set in those photos, but I'll reserve judgement on that until I see it in action. That said, I already think it's an improvement over the RTD era TARDIS.

Don't like the rest of it. Too mechanical. The TARDIS should look organic, like something that was grown; otherwise, it's just another boring ol' time machine and there's nothing special about it.

Looking "mechanical" and "another boring ol' time machine" seemed to hold it in good stead for 26 years.

Remember: the whole "grown" bit was taken from a cut (therefore non-canonical) scene from an episode, and it was Moffat who established in Time Crash that it was simply a desktop theme. The TARDIS may have intelligence, but it is a machine. Just like K-9.

I for one am glad to see things move away from the organic. I didn't dislike it, but it was one of the few creative decisions RTD made that I wasn't a big fan of. That and the fact we almost never saw any other part of the TARDIS except the console room and clothes closet. If Moffat does get us back to seeing swimming pools and the like, like they did in the old show, I'd be quite happy.

As long as they don't go filming it at some health club like they did in the 1970s!

I like it though I would assume the Tardis doesn't shake as much as normal since theres no banisters and falling off the lifted console area would hurt

If you look closely at Tennant's console room you can see padding on certain sections, which I always thought was a cool idea (despite my criticism above). I'd love to see a scene where, after a particularly rocky encounter, Amy goes around strapping pillows to all the sharp corners, grumbling!

The glass floor is my main concern. I've never been a big fan of glass floors of any kind.

Even if we saw in the trailer some sparks flying around the new room I don't we'll get any intense action scenes for fear of breaking the glass floor.

The "grown" line was not cut, it is in The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit. You may be getting confused with the deleted scene from Journey's End where the Tenth Doctor gives his half-human clone and Rose a piece of TARDIS coral to grow a new TARDIS.

I kind of like it...but it will depend a lot on how it looks while in use durin' the episodes.

For now, though, I'd say it looks alright.

Completely agree with this.

So much for waiting until "The Eleventh Hour" aired...

I wasn't sure about the interior based on the Radio Times cover but after seeing the pictures Samurai8472 posted, I love it. I really hope the multiple staircases aren't just there for show and we actually get to see The Doctor and Amy go through TARDIS corriodors! :D

It looks a bit ... overwrought.

Although I do like the stairs going off in different directions -- they give the sense the ship really is more than just one big room squished into a police box.

This model also looks too new and sterile. Tennant's had a lived-in look that this one lacks.

My favorite control room so far is the one from the 1996 movie.

I like the '96 movie TARDIS interior, but I've gone off it a bit lately. I think my favourite is the alternate control room first seen in Masque of Mandragora.

If by "hold it in good stead" you mean "had the reputation of a cheaply-produced, poorly-acted children's program with no mainstream success or respect," you are completely accurate.

Many things worked between 1963 and 1989 that simply would not work today. It would no more make sense for the TARDIS room to look like it did in the 60s than for J.J. Abrams's Star Trek film to use the original series Enterprise bridge.

Meh. The scripts better be damned good because they've got nothing going on in terms of visual design and costuming.

And eventually petered out, to boot.

Sorry, I am at work and so am unable to view youtube material at this time.

However, there is good and bad in Doctor Who just like there is in a lot of modern artforms. It would be easy to make the series look amateurish just by cherry picking some of the poorer examples. I'll bet my left nut that is what you have done..

Despite this, there are some very fine examples of quality acting in the old series. Open your eyes and let go of your prejudices and you might see some.
