New Radio Times reveals new TARDIS interior

That concentric ringed thing on the ceiling above the central column seems to be a visual reference to the very first Hartnel TARDIS set.

I'm sure the Doctor's room would be a fan wank.

"OMG! He's got the mirror from episode 108! scene two!"

>_>

"A draw full of screwdrivers! anyone see Bakers?"

ISTR that the script for The Trial of a Time Lord featured a scene in the Doctor's room (written by Robert Holmes, and cut before recording). The summary is that there probably was a bed and desk, etc, in there, but all you could really see was the massive model train set he'd been building up for centuries...

Yeah, now that you mention it. That big sort of operating theatre light thing that was over the console.

Also, upon looking at the images again, it looks like a set that is built in modular form. It just has that look to it, like the early eps where the roundel walls were just stood up, and then moved around to create a new room of the Tardis on the BBC studio floor, this is obvious when you watch the early eps as the top of each wall is visible with no join, and the occasional studio light.

Would be cool, but it may not be built in that way, where a certain part can be moved/rotated to look just slightly different, a bit variation between eps as The Doctors clothes will be altering gradually also, which brings me to another theory...

What if the Tardis as a kind of mood-ring to The Doctor, where it may emulate certain feelings of happy/sad/confusion etc etc. For instance when he talks of a fond memory, the colour of the set changes ever so slightly to a more subtle tone warmer or lighter tone, or to a red (or mauve if your that anal about quotes ;)) upon being mad or a cooler tint for a sad/touching moment. Not too obvious a change, but ever so slightly so the eye takes a while to process whats happening.

Just a theory. :)

Sure, the Doctor is a wanderer. But even a guy who lives out of his van sleeps in it sometimes. I'm not saying I'd necessarily want a whole episode dedicated to it but it would be nice to see other aspects to the TARDIS. I love the bit in "The Invasion of Time" where they just keep going around in circles. Not only is the TARDIS bigger on the inside than the outside, but it's way bigger than just the console room. As I recall, the only time we ever saw any other rooms during RTD's tenure was when we got a look at the Doctor's enormous wardrobe in one of David Tennant's first stories. (It was either the end of "The Christmas Invasion" or the beginning of "New Earth." I always forget.) I like the idea of the TARDIS as an enormous building with lots of rooms that Doctor hasn't been in in centuries. His massive model train set sounds like a fun idea.

Didn't Baker have only one? And wasn't that one destroyed in "The Visitation"?

I don't even need a full episode inside the Tardis. Just a quick throwaway scene at the beginning. Like C. Baker working out in the corridor in Attack of the Cybermen, or Tom Baker and the 'boot cupboard' gag. It would certainly make sense to have a scene of the Doctor giving Amy a tour of the ship. Personally I think the notion that the Tardis is full of all these odd rooms and corridors would be just as interesting as the blue desert of planet Fred.

They pretty much stuck with the same design from Baker through Davison. My memories a bit shaky, but I think Pertwee's was similar, only it had interchangable heads.
