Have you every done anything special when a favorite celebrity dies?

For instance, I was in college when Stevie Ray Vaughan died, and I stayed home from school that day listening to his music. His death was such a shock and really bothered me. Doing that just felt right.

When Suzanne Pleschette died, I watched several of my favorite episodes of The Bob Newhart Show. She was my first tv crush...

With the news of Robert Culp dying yesterday I orderd the full series of Greatest American Hero and Season 1 of I Spy on Amazon.

I haven't done anything special for any other celebrities, but for those three it just seemed right.

When Patrick McGoohan died last year, I pinned a no 6 pennyfarthing badge to the lapel of my overcoat. It's still there actually.

I've never bought anything because of a celebrity death, but in 2005 when James Doohan died, I pulled out my season three set of TOS and watched The Lights of Zetar, one of only two episodes that feature Scotty. Can't stand Wolf in the Fold.

Not really, but after Andrew Koenig died last month (), I started listening to some older episodes of Never Not Funny. I'd only heard snippets before (those guys are NUTS! ), and now I'm wishing I'd gotten into it more before Andrew died. RIP, AK-47.

Oh, yeah, I also went looking for any Growing Pains episodes that had Boner in them. Yeah. I had a wee little crush on Boner. Laugh if you want, but Andrew was damned cute and he was funnier than the regular cast. And I always thought that Kirk Cameron sucked.

I listened to Maynard Ferguson music all day on the day he died. One of my trumpet instructors at school actually traveled with his jazz band for a while.

The closest I've ever came to caring about a celebrity's health is when I heard Michael C. Hall had some (treatable) form of cancer. Hope everything goes well.

Leonard Nimoy will probably be the first celeb death I'll really care about. Maybe I should stock up on DVDs now?

John Lennon. Did some paintings, one of which I gave to my best friend who was also a fan. My friend put it up on the mantle in our apartment. Since it was Christmas we also had up some shiney gold garland and candles. My girlfriend stops by one evening, sees this and asks if we are worshiping Lennon now. So, my friend and I drop to our knees and cross ourselves saying "John, Paul, George and Ringo." Thats about as close as it got.

I was 12 years old when Heather O'Rourke died. She was my first crush ever. I was crushed by her death. My parents kept me home the next day. I still watch her movies on the anniversary of her death. No I'm not a pedo... I'm just honoring two 12 years. The one who died and the one I once was...

Damn I'm weird.

When Doohan passed, I moved my Scotty action figure to a place of honor on my desk. Same with my Lorne figure when Andy Hallet died.

I was working in a video store when Frank Sinatra died, and I made a little display on the front counter and put all his movies there and played Sinatra movies and videos on the monitors all week.

Sinatra. He was truly awesome. Even after he got old and that powerful voice faded his presence remained strong.

I've only really been affected, as in truly sad, by the deaths of three celebrities; Kurt Cobain, Frank Sinatra and Christopher Reeve.

And Cobain was really only because I was 18 at the time and listened to his music through the most formidable years of adolescence. Sinatra and Reeve are the ones that have really mattered to me.

*The quote was taken from part 2 of the Superman: The Animated Series episode, 'Apokolips...NOW!' at the funeral of Dan Turpin. I kept that sig for a while.
