CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Let the photoshops of Evans as Johnny into Captain America begin!

I wish him well, but I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. This is a tough role to pull off without being cheesy, and that's before he has to go toe to toe (acting-wise) with the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Edward Norton.

That salary Evans is getting sure does seem like a major lowball. If anything, I would figure they would frontload the contract so he'd get more for Captain America but less for The Avengers since that movie would have all those lead actors in it. But this fits in with Marvel's lowball reputation.

I'll be honest, I thought Mark Valley would have been perfect, but at his age I knew it was out of the question. I can deal with Chris Evans. No complaints from me.

Of course, that practically guarantees that any future Fantastic Four movie will be a recast/reboot.

Agreed. Valley would have been perfect for the role even though he is a little too old.

I can live with Evans. Here's hoping he can hold his own against Downey.

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

I'm pleased with this casting. It means that I won't have to totally ignore this movie say if someone like Channing Tatum or Ryan Philippe been cast. I liked him as Johnny Storm he made both FF films at least watchable. He was great in Sunshine. Everything I've read so far about the script suggests its a really good one so I wish him luck and I guess the next step is to see the costume! Or maybe cast the Red Skull, Bucky, Peg (I read Keira Knightly read for that) and Baron Zemo.

He's almost twenty years too old. Steve Rogers was only 27 when he was frozen in 1945.

And that's probably a high number.

According to The Marvels Project, he was 19 when recruited for for Project: Rebirth and 20 when he became Cap. That would mean that he was only 24/25 when frozen.

24, 25, 27, whatever, point is some guy in his mid-40s is way too old for the part.

Has Evans' salary been reported?

It was reported a while back that the salary for the role, no matter who was playing the part, was going to be $300,000.

His birthday was July 4 (), 1917.
Really? Since when? And they had him born on the 4th of July????? :guffaw: Geezzzz.
I got the date from Cap's Wikipedia article, which cites the birthdate appearing in Adventures of Captain America–Sentinel of Liberty, which ran from '91 to '92.

But I also just saw mention of him being born in 1922 at an extensive Cap website (no citation, though), so I don't know which is "correct."

Re: CAPTAIN AMERICA-shooting July 2010:Casting, Rumors, Pics till rele

Still, Steve Rogers being born on July 4th is a bit much. Next they'll have him taking the formula on July 4th 1940.
