A star trek blog from non trekkie?

Hello there

I asked before about Star trek episodes and which to watch first etc and after careful consideration I have decided to watch all in episode order as in from when they were made.

I have already got TOS all three seasons all of the animated and season one of TNG.

I have just watched The Cage and where no man has gone before the two pilots and feel inclined to speak about it.

I used to write blogs one just about stuff and another about world of warcraft but haven’t in over a year wrote anything blog wise.

I have never been madly into star trek as I always got mixed up with a bit over whelmed which is the reason I decided to start at the very beginning (although I have watched the first 12 animated episodes but will re watch when the time comes).

The reason for this blog is do you think anyone would actually want to read the blog?

Someone who is not a Trekkie on his journey to possible becoming a mad trekkie or not.

Although I did love where no man has gone before and am a massive Dr Who fan and have seen a couple of the star trek movies and liked.

Just deciding if I should write the blog or no what do you think?

Not to sound condescending, but no, if the rest of your write-ups would be as ineloquently presented as this post here, I certainly wouldn't want to read them. I mean, I'm not a particularly good writer myself, but on the other hand I would never think anyone would want to read my texts in the first place. The actual idea of a weblog written by someone who watches Star Trek for the first time sounds interesting. But it would take more than just that to keep me reading. Sorry for the honesty.

That is absolutely fine after all that’s the reason I put the post up.

I could perhaps post a couple of blogs and see the comments the blog can always be deleted after all and just forgotten about

Great blog, my friend. Keep up the good work. It will be interesting if you do a quickie write up for every episode. Make sure to include more photos, along the way, though. However, so far so good, though.

As for chronological viewing orders for Star Trek:

Here are two of mine (if your interested)...

http://trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=3904609&postcount=1

http://trekbbs.com/showpost.php?=3918315&postcount=28

Thanks very much for that it has changed the way I will be viewing the episodes now, I am going to use the first link as my guide as to which way I shall watch so a massive thank you for the list and encouragement:techman:.

A sci-fi fan that's never seen star trek before now? Shocking...

Thanks for the encouragement hahaha :rommie:

Oh and second post is up now.

Altogi:

Oh, just to let you know. Star Trek: Generations was placed based on story pacing and not so much a strict adherence to it's stardate. Here is a more accurate placement of the film, if your curious...

http://trekbbs.com/showpost.php?p=3914446&postcount=8

However, the reason I didn't tell you about this placement at first is because the story seems to flow better concerning Worf's character. Personally, I think the story in this instance seems to play a more important factor instead of rigidly following some numbering system that may or may not be accurate (all the time).

However, if you want to follow the stardates more closely I completely understand. In fact, if you want to double check the stardates: Simply go to http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Portal:Main. Or simply use the 2nd viewing order for a more accurate viewing. Although, using the 2nd viewing order is a lot more complex and trouble-some to watch, though. So I can understand not wanting to dive into such a complex viewing order (your first time out).

Oh, and I didn't mention this in my viewing orders, but... Star Trek Enterprise's Mirror Universe episodes (that can be watched after TOS's "Tholian Web" episode) are located on Star Trek: Enterprise Season 4 Disc 5 episodes "In A Mirror Darkly Part 1" and "In A Mirror Darkly Part 2".

Oh, and I am honored that you would use my viewing order.
Thank you again. I will be following your blog, friend.

Sincerely~

Your New Trek Friend.

~J.

Also, there is one more thing I would like to add. If you didn't know, and if you are renting the Original Series DVDs: chances are it just might be the new Remastered Version. Which means the exterior special effects (such as the starship shots, phasers, various alien cities) have been updated.

Just something to take into consideration when watching the Original Series.

In other words, there are two versions. The Original Series DVDs displayed how they were originally aired and the Original Series Remastered DVDs with the picture, sound, and special effects enhanced.

Thanks so much for all the help Luther, I think ill stick with the list on my blog

My fiancée’s brother is a massive star trek fan and he was explaining it too me so seems a good enough reason to leave it there

I am up to episode 7 now, watched Mudd’s Women this morning before work, Will put up my third blog this afternoon when I get a second :techman:

Hello again,

I was wandering if you have any ideas of what extra pages i can add to the blog ?

I am going to dedicate a page to each if the series like Animated, TOS, TNG etc etc with links to the episodes and pictures :bolian:.

Anyone else have any good ideas for other pages ?

Thank you in advance :techman:.

I'm glad to see that you have an interest in the Animated series. I like the time-line art. You might have bothe the series and the movies above the timeline--and JJs retelling below.
