Time to date yourself: Items from your childhood (picture thread)

I had this version, not the cheap plastic version, but a friend of mine broke it: :(

My turn to be old!

Before LEGO was invented, I played with these, oddly enough I never had an Erector set:

When I lived in Norfolk, Virginia, my house was on the beach and my two favorite toys where these;

redryder-wagon.jpg

I used to go up and down the beach collecting hermit crab shells in my wagon. *sigh*

It's no wonder I grew up to enjoy all the new multimedia things we have today since I played with these as a kid, though I only had TOS Trek at the time.

I, the Terror of Barret St., used to zip around on this, often standing on the crossbar, what a daredevil I was; This isn't me in the pic, btw, found on the web.

This was actually my very first Lego:

Other things that I used to play with:

Playmobil

Allegro Chirurgo:

I don't even know the name of these:

This was nothing more than a heavy rubber ball with a piece of metal inside, but not in the center of it, on one side so that every time you made it bounce it would go all over the place and be difficult to catch:

There were many other things but I can't find images of them. So sad. :(

Come to think of it, I can't remember many of the toys from my childhood. This springs to mind, though:

I had one just like that one. Mine had a darker finish, though.

For a while I had these:

Commodore64-650x411.jpg

Datassette1531.jpg

OMG! The Commodore 64 with a tapedeck was the first home computer I ever saw. My Dad had one when I was in high school in the mid 80's

Talk about dating ourselves....here's one that will make you weep. Or at least, make ME weep. Me in what would be worth a fortune today (it's the Ferengi in me):

randipedalcar1.jpg

Very cute pic!:) I had a metal pedal car similar to that in the very early 70's. It was a bright red fire engine with a bell and real wood ladders that hung on the side. And no - I don't want to think about what it would be worth now. It's just too painful.

OMG! I haven't seen one of those in years. I had one too. A record album and a film strip and I thought it was the coolest thing. My two children each have a DVD player in their room and will never understand how mind blowing it still is to me that with DVD players you can watch your favorite movie in your home when ever you want.

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

One of my first dolls- Baby Beans:

I lost mine. :( Somewhere I have a picture of me holding her.

When I was older, I had a ton of the gimmicky dolls- Baby Alive, Whoopsie! and Dancerella:

Of course I had Barbies, too, but I really loved Darci:

darciwhite.jpg

I had the redhead Darci, too, and a bunch of outfits. Wish I'd held on to them. :(

One of my favorite toys that I still have- Kermit the Frog!

kermit.jpg

My favorite Barbie was the Superstar from 1977- I got a replica for my birthday:

And this isn't really a toy, but it's a little trinket from air travel that I wish I still had- Junior Wings. I had them from Eastern Airlines:

easternwings.jpg

When I was little, I wanted to be a stewardess for Eastern Airlines, because it was my family's favorite airline to fly! Of course, that dream died in 1991...:(

My first computer: the Tandy 1000 SL/2

Tandy1000sl2.jpg

512KB RAM
8 Mhz Intel 8086 processor
40MB internal hard drive

Definitely the cutting edge of technology, and it only cost $1000 or so!

Hours of fun with blinking dots

I had that! Well, my dad had one and it was still around when I was little. I had completely forgotten about it till I saw it just now.

So, first off:

I had Lego blocks too but aside from those, some of my favorite toys from when I was little were:

FPT12925-west-town-base.jpg

fpgreatpirateship11.jpg

And those I wouldn't use with the regular figures for it, I used those with my little 4 inch GI Joes that my Uncle gave me for my birthday one year. They were his from when he was younger. My favorite one:

S.A.W. Viper

Another item from my childhood that really sticks out in my memory was Big Frank:

I loved Big Frank sooo much and I was upset when my mom told me I was too old for it and made me get rid of it. :(

And of course I have like 8,463,584,734,860,873,403 of the Playmates 5" Star Trek action figures, but I don't have any pictures of those at the moment, and I'd rather not go looking for a bunch of pictures of them... :p
