Time to date yourself: Items from your childhood (picture thread)

Some things that instantly spring to mind from my child hood in the 70s.

I remember those things.

For a while I had these:

But the C-64 was actually my dads, so I got myself the C-128:

OMG Click clacks!!!!! I was never very good with those. They were a lethal weapon in my hands!

I did A LOT of reading: Nancy Drew, Encyclopedia Brown (even back then i preferred mysteries) and Agatha Christie.

Toys and games:

Mostly barbie, which i still collect to this day:

Fellow ladies of the Stone Age, do you remember playing Mystery Date and screaming everytime you got stuck with Poindexter????

We played Mille Bornes *a lot* in grade school. The game is still available and I believe I have one tucked away in a box that I bought about 7 years ago.

Yeah, it was a fun game. We were so easily amused long ago.

Talk about dating ourselves....here's one that will make you weep. Or at least, make ME weep. Me in what would be worth a fortune today (it's the Ferengi in me):

Clackers were a lethal weapon in just about anyone's hands, Yeomani Randi. Can you imagine them selling those to kids today?

All I can say is...OW.

Simon was so cool

I carried this style of turntable around the house in its own box so I could listen to my music in different rooms. The 70's ipod! :p

Nicest set of wheels I ever owned. Banana seat and Sissy bars! Mine had streamers. This is actually an old ad, but it is so full of 70's win I had to post it.

Chinese Jump Rope was a recess favorite. Those kids look really dorky. I'm sure I looked much cooler playing it.

Barbie and the GI Joe I constantly nicked from my big brother spent many hours together in my barbie camper

Dorothy was my fav. It was a sad day when she lost some limbs and mom had to throw her out. Actually, I took her apart to figure out how she worked. Even her wrists, elbows and ankles moved; it was a mystery I just had to solve.

but the very best thing of all,
theres a counter on this ball

skip-it, skip-it!

Also this unfortunate image captures many things from my childhood:

^Depends on what degree of ability Trekker4747 would consider"mastery" with that thing, and he might not be that nimble.

My barbies got buried in the back yard - I was hoping for 1/6 skeletons! No skeletons - just moldy barbies! :(
