    Hopefully a useful update, WIP...

I sent Madman a revised 5-view last night, so that should be very cool:). (He will have fun sorting out all the inconsistencies between views). Anyway, started fleshing out some textures, trying for that bare metal aircraft look...
Might be too "mottled" looking, as I almost got a kelvin-vibe at first...need to make it more polished/reflective. Once it gets some "painted" areas, and various markings, the shading might be more clear.

Many of you I'm sure have seen this, but I came across a very nice site the other night,

Under buildings>chemical plants, there are some interesting pics...thought about photoshopping an "under construction" shot.:)

    That's very nice. :)

You know, this ship is going to be small enough, I might model the insides of the rooms for a change. It depends on how detail happy I want to get, I suppose. :)

I bloody love it. The interior diagram, recolored to fit my system theme and sprinkled with a few system status widgets, was already my desktop. I can't wait for the mesh to come out to play with. Now I just have to figure out how to get Blender to export to Maya without breaking things.

I love the domes, by the way. They remind me of vacuum tubes, which might be an interesting source to reference for the glow of the collectors.

There is just something very "Flash Gordon" about this ship that I absolutely love. The more I look at it, the more I like it. Besides, I think a lot of the newer SciFi ships tend to rely to much on greebles and thinly disguised present day military hardware. So I welcome anything that has a classic sleek, retro look about it. Awesome job. Can't wait to see more!

I haven't gotten to start construction yet... I hope this afternoon at work is dead, and then maybe I can get started. :)

My WIP Project name for this is the USS Flash Gordon NCC-934. Until someone comes up with something better. :)

LOL! Awesome :) Man that is freaky seeing something in your head all of a sudden fleshed out like that on screen! Very nice!

You know, I've been trying to figure out where and when this fits into things...I wondered about different "aerospace" companies winning contracts for starfleet and private concerns..."Yoyodyne"!? got the bulk of ST "military" awards (with that cleaner "60's" look) where as many smaller, older ships might have been built by "Spacely Sprockets" :) or some such thing...perhaps SS had an obscure prototype constitution class that lost out...hmm...

Would it be too far off to suggest that this might be an ideal contender for the "real" Bonaventure from TAS?

Hmm...I hadn't thought of that. Would it's small size present any problems? (470' approx, only 7 "proper" decks, crew of 60-80 at most?)

Simply incredible and most creative design, fits so well into the Trek universe.

If I may ask, any thought of submitting the design to Fantastic Plastic for consideration of a model kit ?

That's an interesting idea. We can name it Bonaventure, if anyone complains that it is too small, we can sick the Enterprise after them. It's big enough. :)

When 3D prototyping gets cheaper, I would love to get a ton of my stuff built up into physical models. I would love to have my Constellation model in Physical form. :)

No I hadn't, although I did bookmark that Shapways site. I'm guessing FP does more "traditional" resin kits/vacuum formed, as opposed to that 3D scan? process that shapeways does.

I could see myself getting back into model building if your Constellation was realized as a kit.:) Actually there's a ton of things from this forum I'd love to see.
One thing on that site I thought was very cool was Rick Sternbach's old "Tritium" from the SPC. That was sharp. It would be great to see the Patton, Mann and Moscow fleshed out as well.

    Oh yeah,

One thing I forgot to include in those drawings were some kind of saucer rim window pattern...oops.

OK, one more update...this old computer is starting to choke on the PSD :( ...anyway, this is sort of what I was imagining, but it might be too "polished chrome" looking...a little too intense.
I don't want it to look like a hood ornament:)
Not sure about the blue tinted domes either...?
No markings as of yet, still trying to figure that out.

I absolutely love everything here with exception of the window inserts. I think the rim windows in you original drawing were more consistent with the streamlined 50s-60s look you are after.

    Thanks!

Yeah, that was an idea based on the deck layout, there wasn't much there except for the "core rooms" inside the circular corridor, so the corridor was expanded in places, with those windows being added for "crew enjoyment" or something :) I had actually planned flush retracting covers over the indents, so when closed, all you would see is the subtle panel shape. Yeah, perhaps just traditional saucer rim windows (which I forgot to actually draw)...
