Explain your user name!

I took my username from my fanfiction.net pen name. I don't remember how I came up with my pen name. People say I remind them of a Vulcan (personality-wise, not looks-wise, unless there are red-haired Vulcans out there), so I'm sure it got started that way.

I got it from the liner notes to one of the albums by the Alan Parsons Project.

The note said "Oral rendition: Mr. Laser Beam". Meaning: There's a friend of Alan Parsons whose name was Lee Abrams ('Laser Beam' = anagram of Lee Abrams). This friend provided spoken word samples for the beginning of the song "Let's Talk About Me".

I swear by all that's holy that I did NOT pick this name simply because its initials are MLB. I picked the name way before I got into baseball. Although it is cool, I admit.

And I like it a lot better when people here call me MLB and not any of the endless variations on the name I was using for awhile (Babaganoosh). :D

Mine comes from the second season episode of TOS, The Apple. Mallory is the last redshirt to die, by stepping on an exploding rock. Since my feet have never really obeyed me (and I've had the broken bones to prove it) the name seemed particularly apt.

Plus it's generic, short, easy to remember and spell, etc.

"Your song is coming to an end..."

For those unfamiliar, Ood Sigma is a character from the fourth series of Doctor Who.

I picked the name Nerys Ghemor because it pays tribute to the best Cardassian ever, and also to Kira Nerys. And of course there's the AU wondering, what would've happened if Kira Nerys WAS Iliana Ghemor? How would she have reconciled her two sets of memories?

I also think the Cardassian-Bajoran combination is a good description of myself: a combination of spirit and steel, as far as personality is concerned.

I chose the Cardassian form of the name (rather than Ghemor Nerys or Kira Iliana) because of course I like the Cardassians the most.

^ I like that name. Really, I do! And since Tekeny Ghemor considered Kira like a daughter to him (even after finding out she wasn't Iliana), that's what he might have called her.

ElimParra - comes from two things. Elim Garak, who still is one of my favourite characters on trek and Parra (from Parramatta Eels), being the team I support in the NRL.

Oh, that's simple. A complete and utter lack of creativity. It's just a bunch of random letters really. I've been meaning to change my username, but nothing has come to me yet.

Kirby is my dog. When I registered I froze and couldn't think of a cool user name so I looked around and Kirby the wiener dog was sitting at my feet.

I honestly thought it was because of the video game character.

Orac and Zen are computers in my favourite ever TV SF series, Blakes 7. I had the username on LiveJournal for well over a year before the "OZ" part struck me (yes, I'm slow :p ). I sometimes toy with the idea of having it changed to Servalan (a character from B7) but I suppose I'm used to being called OZ now. :D

My original user name was JinxtoEeiauo (after a character in the novel "Uhura's Song" (one of my favorite ST novels).

When we were offered the option of changing names, I decided to tie in my "alter ego" with my love of Enterprise. :)
Not that it's of any importance whatsoever but I was kinda disappointed when you had it changed. Uhura's Song is a fantastic book and your original username was a great tribute to it. :bolian:

Mine is simple enough: Owing to an utter lack of imagination, I just used my first name and the first syllable of my last name. I've been mistakenly referred to as Scotspen and Scotspenis (among other things).

If I were a first-time internet user today, I'd probably pick something a bit more creative -- like “Toilet Boy” (a childhood sobriquet), “Id Monster” or “Aerial Bus Driver.”

I wanted to call myself Thelin (I just made up a word that sounded good), but that username was already in use, so I decided to have a username that told who's my favorite Trek character (Reg Barclay). Not very imaginative but fitting since I love him so much.

Mine derives from a phrase that was used twice in a genre TV show a few years back. The name of the TV show sounds like "Fluffy the Umpire Player".

My name was originally supposed to be Seamus McBundy, Al Bundy's ancestor on Married with Children but when i first registered onto AOL over a decade ago, someone already took that so i took ShamelessMcBundy instead. And for 11+ years, it's been the same.

Omnius, not Ominous, is also known as the Evermind, was a collection of powerful artificially intelligent entities in the Dune universe.
