Vancouver Olympics Discussion

God I hate NBC's Olympic coverage. I mean, I think showing everything on a tape delay is nonsense when the games are on the other side of the planet. But to live in the very same fucking time zone and not get live events? What a joke. Sorry, sports just aren't meant to be watched on a delayed basis.

There are lots of other issues with NBC's coverage... I could probably bitch for three pages about just Bob Fucking Costas. But I'll stop.

The Olympics should be cool, but they aren't thanks to NBC.

Well there's that first gold out of the way, so Jamie Campbell can finally. stop. talking about it!

Great run by Bilodeau, too. Definitely deserved the gold. :techman:

GOLD!

YES!!!!!

Congrats to Alexandre Bilodeau, Canada's first Olympic gold on home soil!

:D

Look at that sore loser Begg-Smith. He didn't smile at all in the flower ceremony.

Congrats to Rousseau and Marquis for keeping Bilodeau's seat warm, and here's to a great Olympic future for them.

"It takes the pressure off the other athletes," said Jamie Campbell's commentary partner. Well, not for the men's and women's curling teams or for the men's and women's hockey teams, but most of the other athletes for sure.

Meanwhile, the Soviet/Russian streak in figure skating is in jeopardy thanks to that excellent pair from China, and Sale and Pelletier are there as commentators to relish the success of the Canadian pair.

*happy dance!*

Good on him! :techman:

She fell in the short :(

Yeah, awesome performance by Bilodeau tonight. Even sweeter than winning the gold is him beating the traitor to do it. lol

So, as to the games (And I must admit, I really can't talk about them that much unless someone wants to see what I have to say at least 3-6 hours after the fact ),

Not sure if its available in the US, but CTV is streaming a lot of events live.

But because of the US IP Address, I can't get that since it's not "geographically appropriate"

HAHAHAHAHAAaaaaa... now the Americans know what it feels like whenever a Canadian comes across something posted on Hulu!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a far more serious note, YAY!!! Canada has actually NOT SUCKED in an Olympics on Home Soil!!!!!!!!!!

At the cost of silver and/or bronze for Rousseau and Marquis?

The German couple's short program was beautiful.

Never before have I seen that many pairs playing for countries other than those of their birth. The guy who looks like Obama, his Russian partner, the Japanese girl in a Russian pair, are all just one word: Wow!

EDIT: Wow! Bilodeau gets to sit beside his skiing idol Brassard, whom I saw ski in 1998! And what a toast!

I'm sorry but when did I make fun of you because you couldn't watch something on Hulu. I think the whole freaking thing sucks personally, I can't do anything to change it.

Some thoughts about Sunday night:

Loved the Moguls competition. Great to see an American at least medal, but good for Bilodeau and Canada. Very well deserved. Man was he going fast though. The other guy, Colas or whatever his name is was blazing down that track. I was a bit surprised he came in 6th, but it was the conservative jumping that did him in I think.

As for the figure skating, nice program from China and the second american team. Don't really care too much else for it however.
