TV & Media Avatar Contest - OMG!

:cardie:

I'm not sure what that the problem is about. Is this section forbidden for Fantasy or what? :vulcan:

You know what, just forget about it, OK? If there is really some sort of stupid rule that SF & Fantasy are forbidden in this section, even though it doesn't make sense at all, since TV & Media encompasses all TV & Media (it doesn't say "TV & Media, except SF & Fantasy" :vulcan: I had no idea. Pretend I didn't say anything. I certainly didn't mean to say that the Joan of Arcadia avatar shouldn't be included (actually I would probably vote for it). I just said it was Fantasy, because, well, it is Drama/Fantasy. It was an off-hand comment, before you started attacking me over it. I certainly didn't want this whole drama to happen.

^Generally, the rule has been no Sci-Fi or Fantasy avatars in this contest for as long as I've been around here, since they have their own competition.

Given that there are still those who think that the Lost forum - you know, that show about time travel and smoke monsters - shouldn't be moved to SF&F, we'll never all agree what is and is not Science Fiction.

JetFire, if ya want out of the contest, I'll leave your entry out of it, but like I said, I don't have a problem with it. And since I'm the one runnin' the contest, not DevilEyes, I get the final word this time out.

DevilEyes, the last few months, scifi entries get in on the contest to the point that initial posts specify if scifi entries are allowed. In this particular contest, I posted that they were not, since I thought it would make the contest way too easy (Sisko, Book, Kira, Sheridan). Now, I watched an episode or two of Joan of Arcadia, back when it was on, and as far as I could tell, the girl only thought she was talkin' to God, there was never any proof that she was talkin' to God.

So, I'm okay with JetFire's entry in this contest, as I've posted a couple of times. Now, please, quit bein' a pain about it. Or, enter the contest yourself, instead of throwin' rotten fruit from the cheap seats...

I admire your diplomatic way of saying, "Put up or shut up". :techman:

Damon Lindelof, co-creator and co-chief writer of LOST, recently admitted that LOST *is* science-fiction (and probably always has been), but likes to believe that he conned everyone into thinking that it wasn't. I see what he did there... :p

I am "being a pain about it" by making an off-hand comment, not all of you for getting so worked up about it? Jesus. (no pun intended) I wasn't aware I was in possession of any rotten fruit, but if you keep getting on my case like this, maybe I should get some... :p

(edit: In case it wasn't clear previously, I am going to say it once again: no, I never meant that the entry shouldn't be allowed, OK? I didn't know about that rule. Sorry. Satisfied? )

And BTW, those rules are stupid. If the theme is "God", why wouldn't entries about God be allowed just because they can be classified as Fantasy or SF or whatever? Why would that guarantee a win for those entries? It's not like people at a Trek forum only watch SF and fantasy?

That's actually a good point. If God is deemed sci-fi-fantasy, what does that say about the very idea of religion itself?

It reminds me of this famous recent case:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7818980.stm

An atheist campaign claiming "There's probably no God" has been reported to the advertising regulator.

Posters with the slogan appear on 800 buses in England, Scotland and Wales, as well as on the London Underground.

But organisation Christian Voice has complained to the Advertising Standards Authority saying they break rules on substantiation and truthfulness.

:guffaw:

I knew there was a reason I love you, od0!

I do want my entry in this contest, thank you. :)

and DevilEyes...I never thought of a girl talking to God as Fantasy...but I am obviously wrong.

I used to be a mod here, ya know...

I am "being a pain about it" by making an off-hand comment, not all of you for getting so worked up about it?

Ya made multiple posts singlin' out one entry, questionin' its eligibility for the contest even after I posted about it bein' acceptable. That's more than just an off hand comment, to me, anyway.

Ya were bein' a pain.

If ya don't like an avatar or don't think it qualifies, don't vote for it.

On the other hand, ya are more than welcome to join in the contest, if ya have an eligible entry.

I knew there was a reason I love you, od0!

Love ya, too, JiNX.

;)

I do want my entry in this contest, thank you. :)

You're welcome.

And now, with all that out of the way, here's the recap!

biggles, feel free to chose one, or get 'em animated into one.

There's still time to enter the contest, for those interested. The poll will go up sometime tomorrow night, or Saturday mornin' (CST).

I said two times already that I WAS NOT QUESTIONING ITS ELEGIBILITY - I didn't know you had that rule, all right? Is that getting through to you? Sorry for being so ignorant not knowing your rules, but will you kindly stop being a pain and accusing me trying to do something I wasn't? Thank you. And BTW, I like that avatar and I'll probably vote for it, if you're asking.
