I took it to mean a film that specifically dealt with the ramifications of being gay in our society, so I omitted movies like Mysterious Skin in which the main character was gay but the story wasn't about being gay. It is a vague line, admittedly.
I took the topic as broadly as possible to pretty much mean any movie that had a gay main character, dealt with the impact of gay people on society (or vice versa), or simply had an allegory about being gay as the main point. The phrase "gay related movies" is so frickin vague, it can be any or all.
Aside from those already mentioned, I liked The Mudge Boy, The Broken Hearts Club, Y tu mamá también,Maurice, Lemon Sky, Boys Don't Cry, and My Own Private Idaho.
This is not a gay movie. This is a horror movie. The horror coming from the real world evil of pedophilia, and the psychological effects it can have on the kids.
Years of wanting to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt's ass and it's utterly, utterly ruined by this haunting movie.
For me Mysterious Skin (the book more so than the movie, as I read it first, but both really) was one of the most meaningful and therapeutic works of fiction I've ever read/seen. Also, the soundtrack is beautiful.

Kissing Jessica Stein is a great romantic comedy about a neurotic Jewish woman realizing that just because all the men she meets are idiots doesn't necessarily mean she's a lesbian. It's a happy ending about falling out of love.
Imagine Me & You is a fun little romantic comedy about a woman who falls in love with another woman. The writing & acting are absolutely superb. Unfortunately, I don't really buy the lesbian romance here. The movie doesn't really explain how her feelings for the other woman are different from her feelings for her husband. (It might have helped if they had actually consummated their relationship in that flower shop rather than be interrupted before they had time to do anything besides kiss.)
Embrace of the Vampire is an erotic thriller that could have used a more lesbian ending. The nymphomaniac photographer was the only character in the entire movie that she had any sexual chemistry with.
Exactly. Captain Picard explored the Milky Way. The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy. Spiral galaxies look more like vaginas than they look like penises. Therefore, Picard liked vagina!

For instance, I'm watching Watchmen right now, and while there are no specifically gay primary characters, there are at least two references to homosexuality.
X-Men 2 has not-so-subtle references to homosexuality while lacking explicitly gay characters.
Star Trek '09 features characters who have been the subjects of countless amounts of gay fiction.
Independence Day has Harvey Fierstein. 'Nuff said.

To be fair, I -am- gay, so big shock that I'd gravitate towards gay-related movies.

hahahha I ment to say gay theme movies that my mistake. By the way I like The Birdcage, American Beauty, and Cruel intentions. I'm still waiting for a sequel for Birdcage. I guess 'm gonna have a long wait..... You should see The Witnesses, Summerstorm, The Adventures Of Felix, Before Night Falls, and Coming Out.

I did enjoy Shelter with Brad Rowe. Great movie.
Angels in America was truly outstanding. Fantastic cast, and a solid adaptation of the play, which I was introduced to in a drama writing class in college. I knew Meryl Streep was a versatile actress, but it wasn't until I saw Angels, where she plays (among other roles) a rabbi and the ghost of Ethel Rosenberg, that I realized just how versatile.
Another really good one, although as a pastor's kid, I found it more interesting to see the various layers of hypocrisy at work in that church.
I actually enjoyed "Brokeback Mountain" and made the mistake of telling my co-workers this.
Shortbus is really good! But agreed, the move opens with a guy shooting a load on his teeth.
I like a lot of lesbian-themed movies. Mostly because two hot actresses kissing is awesome, but also because lesbian romances tend to be told with a sensitivity and lack of cynicism that's entertaining to me.
One of my favorite lesbian movies is Better Than Chocolate, starring Vancouver's favorite sci-fi character actor, Christina Cox, as a butch girl who falls for the most adorable redhead ever. The redhead's mom comes to stay with her and she has to hide her sexuality, causing hijinks to ensue.
A great drama is My Summer of Love, which was one of Emily Blunt's first films. Her acting is astounding in it, as she plays a bored rich girl who has a summer fling with a gorgeous, working-class redhead in a sleepy English town.
Someone mentioned Lost & Delirious, with Piper Perabo and Liv Tyler-lookalike Jessica Pare.
The film that may have started my love for sporty chicks and lesbians, Personal Best. I remember developing a Mariel Hemingway crush when I was 10 or 11 and this came on HBO.
And of course, Chasing Amy. Which kind of holds up but is a bit dated in it's sensibilities, especially with the character of Holden.
It's a TV series, but one of my personal favorites. The L-Word. Again, I tuned in to see hot chicks make out and instantly got sucked into the stories. The strength of the show wasn't necessarily the writing, but its cast had such amazing chemistry. They just ended it last year but I could've watched another six seasons. Definitely worth Netflixing.
