Fleet Captain
Pine was good in his own way as a young James T Kirk but he has to develop more hopefully in the sequels he will. I also think Shatner's Kirk is a icon, a hero isn't he?

That is very true, he really didn't become an icon until later. And it will be the same for Pine's verson of Kirk as well. This movie was just to show how the crew got to where they are in the tv series. The more movies there are,the more the charcter develops. It was the same when Shatner first took the role of Kirk.At the begaing of the series Shatner's Kirk was good but not as good as now.Kirk got better as the series carried on along the way to the movies. But that's my oppion of course.Pine was good in his own way as a young James T Kirk but he has to develop more hopefully in the sequels he will. Agreed. Kirk was an icon, and Shatner had a big part in making that so. I love Shatner.
But I also love Chris Pine. I think he's an actor with a lot of talent and a wide range, able to be a jerk one minute, a commander the next, and then a nice guy the next. Give him a chance, folks. Even Shatner wasn't an icon in the first TOS episode!
