The real question is why didn't those Others know about them? They were only spared because they were recognized by the one of them that was the flight attendant Jack was flirting with before the crash.

Considering all the problems and issues the survivors have caused the Others, they should have known who the Hell they were.

Well, it was three years ago. Everyone else had pretty much died or were left in the 70s.

Also, they weren't spared because of Cindy, they were spared because of Hurly. Japanese guy would have killed them either way.

I got the impression that they wouldn't have been killed if they were from the second plane (Ajira). I think The Others knew that Iliana, Bram and the other "Jacob's bodyguards" were coming on that flight. They had laid a runway for them, so it figures they were expecting them.

Who is the Nihonjin guy?

He's Hiroyuki Sanada. When I saw the Demonsheep ad earlier this week, I was sure I had seen aliens looking like that in a Japanese TV series called Uchu kara no Messeji (Message from Space) and the main character was Hiroyuki Sanada! And I immediately recognized him!

Who is the Nihonjin guy?

He's Hiroyuki Sanada. When I saw the Demonsheep ad earlier this week, I was sure I had seen aliens looking like that in a Japanese TV series called Uchu kara no Messeji (Message from Space) and the main character was Hiroyuki Sanada! And I immediately recognized him!

Not what I meant, but that's nice. According to wikipedia, his character's name is Dogen. The John Lennon-looking guy is actually named Lennon too.
