....what would they be? I think films like Up and The Blind Side would not have made the final cut. These are the films I think would've been the only nominees:
Avatar
The Hurt Locker
Inglorious Basterds
Precious
Up in the Air
Any disagreements?

Boot Avatar, sub in Up. Or one of those artsy films.
But not that thing with Sandra Bullock! I have no idea how that slop got an nomination. I smell a payoff.![]()
No, that's pretty blatantly obvious. Those got the Best Director nominations, and the most nominations in other categories (between 8 and 5), and tended to be the films nominated in previous awards organizations.....what would they be? In a split, the Director Oscar would go to Bigelow, since a lot of the impetus behind THL's buzz is to reward her personally (and she has the DGA prize).I'm guessing Hurt Locker will take Best Picture and Best Director, unless the Academy goes for one of its satisfy-all-our-friends split decisions there - in which case Cameron and Bigelow will each get a statue, and it's hard to say which will get which.

Would be or should have?
If "would be", then I simply don't know.
If "should be", then to my mind the only films that make the cut are Avatar, The Hurt Locker and Up - and even then, in Avatar's case, only if you go on SFX and/or box office, and overlook the story.
Inglorious Basterds doesn't belong anywhere near a best picture nomination, nor best screenplay or half the other nominations it got. The whole thing was a mess. Bah! Humbug! To the lot of you!
Your statement is factually in error!Inglorious Basterds doesn't belong anywhere near a best picture nomination, nor best screenplay or half the other nominations it got.

I'll go with that.
