Men, what do you look for in a lady?

At this point, my biggest requirement is that they don't speak like a retarded valley girl. This is surprisingly hard to find.

kinda like the one I'm with at the moment. She's got all the things I'd look for plus a few extras.

1/ not too fat or too skinny
2/ tollerant of my jokes (sometimes I tend to almost go too far) not cross the line but been told I've come very close
3/ caring
4/ stops calling me sir (took quite awhile to de train her from that one)
5/ dosent try to tie me in knots when she's bored
6/ acknowledges that I'm not too religious and wont try to convert me to her religion
7/ great sense of humor maybe twisted at times
8/ wont take any crap from anyone but at the same time not too aggressive

Funny, when I was younger (and straight), I used to say, "I'd love to find a Christian woman who's virtuous and has high moral standards." After a while, I ditched the high standards and "goody two shoes" quality and ended up going out with a few "easy" girls. I figured I was looking for a girlfriend, not a wife. Tragically, the ones I was really attracted to were not into me at all, so forget them.

I'm curious. How important is it for you guys that a girl wears make-up?
And with "make-up" I mean the full range of make up, including eyeshadow, lipstick and so on, not just the actual make up.

I prefer the natural look much more. Makeup just isn't that appealing on a woman, to me anyway.

That's an interesting question. As a woman who tends to wear minimal and "natural" looking make up, I've never actually thought about what men think of it. Even when I go all out for parties/outings, I do it for myself.

How much do men even notice?

I can't stand it. Why is she wiping colourful chemical paste over herself? I prefer women who are (while obviously basically groomed) looking natural.

I can't help but notice that some of these are very detailed!
I blame all the free time I have :o

It's fine, as long as you keep an open mind and these things aren't all requirements.
They're not. It's my ideal list more or less. It's the dream come true. But that doesn't happen to me, so I'll just try and find a girl that can put up with most of the time and who doesn't smoke a lot

Gotta say, excellent question.

I quite like it when women do the route tsq mentions with minimal make-up. I'm not saying don't wear it, I'm just saying don't have heaps of it. And please don't have a lot of blue eyeshadow unless you're going to a party or something.
How much do we notice in a man? They do that, too.
I definitely notice when a man is wearing make up.

;)
I have twice. When I painted my face to be Data (yes I have the tunic), and once when I was to be a really effeminate gay man in a short play I quickly asked one of the girls to do my face a bit. It had the right reaction since people didn't expect big burly me to have makeup on

as long as they don't look like fucking Cleopatra or a panda, it's all good.

sometimes bright red lipstick is just so sexy and makes you wanna *censored* or snog them or something...

I think it goes both ways: I wouldn't say "waahh, I'd never date a make-up wearing man", but too much is too much. Most guys I know don't like it when women can hardly change their expression because of all the make-up.

Too much of the stuff doesn't look good on anyone, but some eyeliner is always the way to go I think. Women or men.

I like eyeliner on men too -- though not many can pull it off. I ... enjoyed the company...of a young man I met at the Bowie Ball (David Bowie dance party), and was attracted to him initially because of his fine application of eyeliner and glitter eyeshadow (totally appropriate for the occasion).

I think most men actually tend to prefer women with as little makeup as possible. If you're going to wear makeup, it should try to be as natural-looking as you can make it.

there is no occassion when men should wear any make-up other than camouflage face-paint. never has been, never will be.

oh, okay, like TV/movie make up fine. i mean cosmetics.
