STXI - Klingon Cruiser

Thought I'd show off what I'd been working on for a few days now... when I finished Enterprise, I decided I needed a good Klingon model for it to shoot at. :)

Modeling will be done in the next day or so, I think.

:)

Very nice, definitely Klingon in look and feel. I've been getting asked by people to make some original Klingon stuff because there's so little of it out there, no one has baddies for their pictures and movies. it's nice to see someone making something other than a Federation ship for a change.

Thanks guys. :)

I should have posted my reference pic earlier, but here's what I'm trying to do...

I'm taking what I like from both images, and filling in the gaps with stuff from Quonos One, from Star Trek VI. I think I'm going to lose the guns on the "shoulders", but leave them on the "arms".

About those vertebrae looking parts...they remind me of vertebrae and gills, at the same time. That concept sketch looks like a shark, to me. :)

The model we see in the movie isn't much more than a traditional K'Tinga with crap stuck on it. :)

That said, I like this more than anything else I have seen in Sub-Prime Trek....

I can see why you'd want to lose the rather overpowering shoulder cannons, but it looks like they've already been toned down in the actual picture.

Yeah, I was thinking about leaving the ones farther back, and moving the weird ones up to the head area, and having them where they were on the old D7. some kind of smaller turret like things.

^^^ A pity that the refinement was all but invisible in last summer's Star Trek... here's hoping we'll see some nice closeups in 2012!

Great work! About those "shoulder" cannons, it looks like they may have been intended to be retractable? Anyway, something to think about?

Dunno why, but my favorite part of that whole design is just the "wings" on the sides of the bridge. Kinda reminiscent of the DY-100, but different. Great work so far!
