I love both shows, but Babylon 5 is STILL the reigning champeeeeen in my science fiction TV pantheon. Though I consider myself living in a blessed age with several more great shows to look to.
Slightly? Yeah, right. The tv series LOST is a really long, drawn out, boring soap opera that copied other ancient boring shows like "Crash Island" ,
"Fantastic Journey", "The New People", "Lost Flight".
It's slightly scifi
You are right, it is all about that Locke/Island/Ben love triangle. Or is it Locke/Jacob/Ben? Locke/Richard/Ben? Jacob/Island/"Esau"?but mostly just a love triangle series
Not if you are paying attention and have a functioning brain and an attention span longer than 10 minutes.that becomes totally incoherent with flash backs, flash forwards, more flash backs etc.
Geez, I must have missed the news of Ian Samerholder, Maggie Grace, Dominic Monaghan, Rebecca Maden, Harold Perineau, Jeremy Davies and Elizabeth Mitchell being arrested for DUI... then there's Emilie De Raven being half-arrested, and apparently, Terry O'Quinn must be arrested and not arrested at the same time, it's gotten confusing...If you want to know the plot of next season's Lost pick up a copy of the Honolulu and see what actor got themselves arrested. The plot and cast changes on any give season of LOST are dependent on which actor gets another DUI while driving around Hawaii because they are either bored out of their mind living on an island doing the show or bored out of their mind stuck on an island when JJ and his bunch aren't filming. So they go off get sh#tfaced drunk, get arrested and somehow JJ, Lieber and Damon Lindelof have to fit this mess into their next season of the tv show.
That must be hard on them, since JJ hasn't filmed anything there since the pilot of Lost. Or has he filmed the new Star Trek there and I had no idea about that?because they are either bored out of their mind living on an island doing the show or bored out of their mind stuck on an island when JJ and his bunch aren't filming.
Did they ever explain what the lostzilla was back in season 1? I didn't stay beyond that season, I just had a feeling that they had no idea what direction the show was taking or what the supposed arc was (that and religibabble/mircalebabble more then slightly irritates me).

We learned that it is a security system, and that certain people who "work for the island" can call it. It also acts as judge for the island's followers, decided whether they should live or die. Some have theorized it may be the Eyptian god of the underworld. In recent episodes a connection between the island and ancient Egypt has been suggested.
Lost and Babylon 5 are two quite different tv-shows, but it’s not a hard choice for me to make.
I lost interest in Lost after season 2, while I saw all five seasons of Babylon 5, still wanting more. Babylon 5 is the superior show.
I am confident it will and in ten years people will still remember it, where when I mention BAB-5 to 'normal' people all I get is...huh?? What was that?
