I'm sure some have seen this, but I just came across it and this guy's review of Generations perfect matches my opinions and thoughts on the movie.

I agreed with his review, but then Confused Matthew goes on to praise Nemesis. He kinda lost some credibility there.

The Nexus is the most convenient plot device and best example of lazy writing in the history of film.

Why was Shatner even in this film with the exception of being there to kill Kirk off for no particular reason? Generations is an incoherent mess of a movie that gives Kirk the worst death of any major fictional character ever.

Generations should have been a fun movie the united both casts in a big fun adventure. Instead we were invited to a funeral in a film that makes little sense... Example: you can think your way out of the nexus. WTF?

I'd give it 2 of 5 stars.

NEMESIS isn't only the worst TNG movie, IMO its the worst of all the STAR TREK movies. I can sit through V and I can sit through INSURRECTION..I will never watch NEMESIS in my life again; it was that bad..IMO...

I give NEMESIS a half a star...BRUTALLY bad movie with awful acting, terrible camera work, so/so effects, and absolutely forgetable villain and dialog...

Talk about long winded, how about his review.

Anyway, I don't agree with it. I like generations. And many of the reviewers notions are wrong.

Oh well.

I guess we are doomed to 'lens flares' forever.

The Youtube guy's verbal smackdown of "Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace" was clever, but I think his rants on these Star Trek movies are just petty and smug. "Generations" may be riddled with problems, but calling it the worst movie of all time is ridiculous. And nitpicking "First Contact" to death is dumb. There are approximately 50 million movies more deserving of being viciously dissected and criticized than that masterpiece.

I liked Plinkett's view points on First Contact. Picard in that movie is not the same Picard from the series or even the previous film.

And the Borg? Really. You have these things that say "We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.", but when they see you walking down the hallway, they simply ignore you. That doesn't make any sense.

Kirk's was the worst death ever?

Wait, I thought Spock had the worst death ever.

Or was it Tasha.

Or was it Data.

Or was it Trip.

Face it - Trekkies can't stand when any of their beloved characters "dies." It's just plain silly, if you ask me.

The goal of the movie was to get TNG to the big screen, and to get Picard and Kirk together. The Nexus was the means to do it.

It was unnecessary. TNG didn't need to have its handheld. And when the let go, we got First Contact.

No, I don't think it's just Trekkie bias against character deaths. It's just that all of those sucked, except for Spock's death. I thought the majority agreed that Spock's death was beautifully done.

Some may argue that it's cheapened by his resurrection, but that doesn't take away the fact that he got an awesome death scene that was moving, eloquent, and fit organically into the story it was a part of, unlike those other ones that just seemed forced, rushed, and/or shoehorned into a story that really didn't need them.

One thing about Confused Matthew's review.. he complained about the warp core breach. Sure, I'll go as far as to say that the effect for the explosion was cheesy.. looks like they just painted a CGI explosion over the drive section, but what I can't figure out is that Matthew thinks the explosion itself should be, like, huge.. or something? How big could it be? How big does it need to be?

I have to disagree with you on that.
In the TNG episode "I, Borg" he behaves quite the same way he does in FC. He is even ready there to wipe out the entire Borg.:vulcan:
