SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboot in

Re: SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboo

True but Stan Lee also understood Spidey's audience was growing up and allowed Peter to grow up with them because there were still lessons of life to be learned after High School. That too me is what made Raimi's Spidey/Peter cool, every film was about growing up and learning a life lesson. IMO going back to school turns it's back too those mature fans from the time of Stan Lee. Sony is now only looking to make Spider-Man for teen-agers.
One of the reasons comics are in the state they are in is because they forgot that Spidey (and other comics) needed to keep getting new/young readers rather than stick with an aging and diminishing audience. The core comics fan is now pushing 30 or 40 rather than 10 or 20. Superman and Spider-man should not be like your mom or dad.

That said, in a movie the characters can grow older as the actors age, but lets not have "Roger Moore" playing Spider-man way past his prime.
With all the wonderful new technology like X-Box360, iPhones & facebook, the younger audience isn't interested in the comic books as much anymore. they have other much more interesting distractions and with art and music programs being underfunded/non-existant in many schools, young kids don't see much of a future in hand drawn art anymore either. Modern kids see CGI as the standard now.

Toby McGuire is far, far from the age of Roger Moore.

The decline of the comic book started long before the introduction of game consols, iphones and the internet. Though I've met young people interested in both.

I'm not saying Maguire is currently Roger Moore, just that the actors and the studios need to know when an actor is too old. Maguire is still fine as Peter/Spider-man.

Peter Parker should always be a young man under 30. I've no interest in a Peter Parker with wife, two kids and a mortgage.

I think...man, people are gonna' eviscerate me for this...that McG would be a great director for a fun, high school aged Spider-Man.

Yeah...I'm serious. Maybe he could even get Cameron Diaz's ass in it, somehow.

It sounds like they're not going for a light, fun film, though. Note this from the Moviehole quote I posted earlier:

I called my pal to see if he had any more info but he didn’t, only that the new film will be the first in a new trilogy – a trilogy that’ll be more “Dark Knight” than “Spider-Man” as we know it. “They’re losing the fluff”, he said.

Re: SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboo

^ If that's true...do they have any knowledge of Spidey at all?

If that's true, they're definitely going the Twilight route, and this is gonna' be hilarious!

Still, I think McG could do a proper, true to the spirit of the comics, teenage Spider-Man movie.

And yet, The Amazing Spider-Girl has been my favorite Spider-book that Marvel has published in years.

I wouldn't be bothered if McG got the job. He's no rookie director.

Oh, well, according to the uk digital spy, it's been "claimed."

What is it with English entertainment news being so...retarded?

Michael Cera in an ultra-dark Spider-Man high-school reboot?

Hilarious. We can play this game too. In fact, I bet there's a website out there somewhere that does exactly this sort of mash-up. You know, something like:
-Meryl Streep in a sex-comedy Lord of the Rings reboot.
-Miley Cyrus in a existentialist indie Star Trek academy days reboot.
-Jack Black in a light 'n' fluffy rom-com Passion of the Christ reboot.

C'mon, everyone join in.

i can not want to see how at all turn out good luck sonny!;)

Re: SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboo

I think Michael Cera would be probably ok. I think he's just been typecast like crazy.

Re: SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboo

Michael Cera needs to play a deranged, zombie-eating serial killer.

Re: SPIDER-MAN 4 officially delayed - Update: Raimi/Maguire out, reboo

Speaking of Zombies, What about Jesse Eisenberg who was in Zombieland?? He a little like Cera without being as dopy IMO.
