Modern Warfare2 General Thread

That only works for the small maps though. In the large maps, you'd be hard pressed to get kills like that - or at least as fast.

Guys.. I think the new MP40 juggernut, class has been found in MW2. I present to you the OMA, danger close, noob tube, w/ claymores. This guys just showed how noob friendly this class is.

I gave it a go on a bunch of Sabotage games tonight. It certainly does get you a lot of kills. It took a few games to get used to the setup, but the best game I had with it I finished on 72-14. That was on Scrapyard.
I can see how it could be tempting to use it all the time, as it certainly doesn't do your KDR any harm, but I don't think I'd wanna just run around spamming noob tubes and claymores all the time anyway. It's just not that much fun.

I went with two hand guns - you can't reload, you can't miss

That's exactly the way I did it. Completed it in 29.19 seconds.

I found doing Pitt boss with two pistols(especially that pistol with the long ammo clip), a lot easier than two handed weapons, but again you cant miss and there is no chance or a reload, and no doubt my big clumsy fingers were to blame for continually spraying everything when i had a machine gun in hand...

Hah, yeah.
I don't think there were any semi-automatic 1 shot rifles that you could pick up... or if you could, I didn't even bother. It's also easier to just swing the pistols around to the targets.

Hell I've even given up and said if you can't beat 'em, join 'em and now I'm using the "noob tube" more than ever.

The tube can be useful at times. Personally I reserve it for boring gits who just sit camped in the same position for the length of the round.

One instance I'm thinking of are the ultimate noobs who just sit camped with a sniper rifle at one end of the corridor by B on Skidrow. 9 times out of 10, a tube down the corridor sorts them out.

I still don't find it anywhere near as irritating as those that run around using the RPG.

Double coverage on the Skidrow corridor = tube fail, usually. We post 2 guys there, one in the hole and one in the doorway. Lame, but it works.

Easiest way to counter that is to sit at the top of the stairs coming up to the corridor. There's a bit that sticks out that protects you from the far end of the corridor, while you take out the guy at the near end. Once cleared, turn and take out the other end with the tube. You can usually pick off the near end with regular fire, they're close enough.

I don't mind tactics like that, providing that people don't apply an element of double standards like this idiot was. He basically implied that only he could undertake such actions. Pr1ck.

Yeah, I hate hearing, "F-ing campers/nubetoobers/snipers, etc"
I always reply along the lines of, "So I should jump out into the open, stand still and fire at the sky?" Like, wtf, y'know?:shifty:

I know I have a frustration with snipers, but that's probably down to my lack of situational awareness, and something like a well hidden sniper frustrates me to no end.

Yeah, that's my deal too. Getting zapped out of the blue with no real chance to take cover really takes away the fun for me. When I come around a corner and run into a guy and we start shooting it out, but he beats me, then it's like "Well I had a chance and he was better." Respawn and go at again. When you're just getting sniped repeatedly, that game quickly loses it's allure.

Kind of like last night I was playing this game and I swear this guy had a cheat just to follow me around (No, I don't really believe that, making a joke). There were about 4 or 5 times when I spawned, boom he was right there with a knife from behind to get me. And it didn't matter where I spawned, there he was. It was damnedest thing I'd ever seen.

Which brings me to my next question. Just how in hell does this spawn thing work any way? Sometimes right back close to where I died, and then the next thing I know, I'm clear on the other side of the map. Damn that's annoying.

Oddly enough, I haven't ran into the RPG more than once or twice, but I could see where it would be annoying too.

I'm kind taking the approach that I'm equiping my rifle with a tube, and when I start a new game, I won't use it until the other team starts it. And when they start it, all bets are off.

But the thing is, I think I actually do better without it. "Noob" tube or not, it seems to make my K/R worse and it really isn't as easy to use effectively as the name might suggest.

But sometimes, you just like a little payback.

I have it set up on a SCAR class. If someone's p*ssing me off, then I just switch classes for the following spawn.

The majority of snipers are fairly easy to counter, they always sit in the same spots on the map. Wasteland for example, it's always by the monument or the wall up at A, or in the two buildings close to B. The number of times I've picked off people sitting their looking out of the window.......!

Besides, it's always fun to outsnipe them with an assault rifle!

You don't want to face my gang, then. We post one in the cemetery, none at the other "typical" spots, and he doesn't shoot-he calls out where the enemy is. The rest of us lay down in the grass with assault rifles and when he tells us of a target its: UP, SHOOT, DROP. We beat some team by 450+ pts on HC Wasteland last night. Between our pop-up sniping and my dual PP2000/FMJ in the tunnel they didn't know what hit them.

I'm gonna miss my FMJ/akimbo machine pistols.:( I'm at level 69 and soon going Prestige again....

Exactly my sentiments on it.

I look on sniper hunting as a personal challenge. *shrugs* When I'm on it's a load of fun and when I'm off, well, it sucks. Generally, though, unless they are in a particularly annoying(read-effective) spot I treat them like the rain. That is, its there, you can't do much about it and its up to you whether or not it hits you.

Holding down the tunnel on Skid Row or something is one thing. But going into a corner next to a door, crouching on a couch or a desk or something, and just waiting for some poor bastard to come through is just lame.

This I also agree with. Maybe I'm just in need of a good hack'n'slash multiplayer game? :p

I feel that way too sometimes. For the most part, I really like this game, I would just tweak a few things and I think I would even enjoy it more. Like I would eliminate this business of you're filling a guy full of lead but he leaps across the room with a knife and you're instantly dead. I mean c'mon, if I'm shooting at somebody and they're shooting at me, my aim is affected by the incoming fire. But hey if I have a knife, I'm suddenly Superman and bullets don't affect me at all.

And this more of a technical issue than a game design issue, but the (presumably) lag problem is really getting worse, IMHO. I'm sick to death of shooting someone full of lead only to see them shrug it off and one little burst from them and I'm dead. It's about to get me to the point where I'm ready to give up on this game. And it's a shame because overall, even with the sniper and noob tube annoyances, it's a damned good game.

Pop-up sniping, I like that!

I have favourite spots on Wasteland, but they don't appear to be the conventional ones. I rarely play that map now with anything other than the sniper rifle. It's probably the most sniper-friendly map on any of the last 3 games. Bog and Bloc were sniper havens on MW and Seelow and Downfall were equally so on W@W, but I find much more success on Wasteland than I ever did on the aforementioned 4 maps.

I use the PP2000 as well. I have bling set up so use the red dot and extended mags. The Barrett has the thermal scope and FMJ.

I'm rank 69 at the moment so I'll be going prestige again soon. Bye bye coldblooded and ninja...... :(

That's the key to Wasteland, keep moving. Even if you use the conventional spots you stand a good chance of doing alright. It always amazes me in games when the other team largely don't seem to have a clue about what's going on or where you're likely to be. I played the map once last night and finished 67-4. I got to call in 2 chopper gunners which completely anihilated the opposition team. Both times it positioned the chopper inbetween their spawn point and the nearest cover. I ended up getting two 30-killstreaks.
