What can you do with Crock pot pan??

We had an old crock pot with the heavy ceramic-enameled inner part for the food.

The metal heating part stopped working.

Any ideas for using the inner part? Can it go in the oven?

Only for cold foods?

Get creative!

Thanks.

I know what a crock pot is, I use it to slow cook beans, make stew, roast... you can do millions of things with it.

But I'm not sure what a crock pot pan is.

The inner part. That's the part the food goes in' I guess it si really the crock pot pot.

Since the heating part no longer works I have one with nothing to do and am looking for uses.

Ah, okay, no, you're good, we were just using different words. I'm with ya now.

You could drill some holes in it and use it as a planter? Paint it whatever color you like :)

It might crack, but I'm not sure.

There are ways to drill ceramic without cracking it. They had to put holes in all those counter tops, somehow.

But I have changed my mind. I don't think you should use it AS a pot, but I think you should use it FOR pot! Add a pipe-stem and use it as the worlds biggets pot bowl!

I meant that it might crack if you put it in the oven. At too high a temperature, anyway.

  • Drill one hole in the middle of the bottom, mount it upside-down with a light-bulb inside, voilà, you have a fancy lamp!
  • Put it upside down on someone's head, cut all hair below the rim for a fancy 'Beatles-style' haircut!
  • Put it under the bed and tell everyone who asks that it's a chamber pot!

:p

If you get or have another crock pot with the same size/shape, you could check and see if you can use the extra crock in that warmer.

I already suggested the last one. :techman:

I see no reason you can't use it as a "dutch oven" with the pot in the oven. If you're concerned about it cracking just make sure the crock is at room temp. before putting it in the oven or you can put it in the oven cold and let it go through the pre-heating along with the oven.
