NFL Football 2009

Not entirely sure why you're getting so defensive about...

Just general boorish gloating, I assure you. No defensiveness was intended.

In addition, that was more directed at the Seahawks fans who pooh-poohed last year's division title in one of these very threads, arrogantly assuring me that this very season Seattle would take back what was rightfully theirs.

And now they're nowhere to be found. :techman:

[Of course, this is all just football hate, and not to be taken seriously.]

When you win the division 7 years in a row, then give us a call.

:)

Heh.

Isn't that cute? An old school fan.

There's a new sheriff out West, Digits ... and he looks manly in Cardinal red.

Because we all know it takes a special kind of team to take a rather disappointing division two years in a row. ;) :p

No ... but it takes a special team to win the NFC championship and then throw a huge scare—and arguably win the game if the officiating isn't outrageously biased—into the six-time Super Bowl champions. :techman:

What an embarrassing display from the supposed two best teams in the NFL today! The Colts, whom I love, seemed like they never really wanted to win against the Jets. I get that they're saving up their starters for the postseason and all, but that doesn't excuse their lack of execution in the first half. But at least the Colts can say that they "gave up" against a potentially playoff-bound team. The Saints don't even have that excuse! The only way New Orleans' day could have been any worse is if they'd lost to the Rams instead of the Bucs!

I am simply ENRAGED by the decision to give up on the perfect season by the Colts. It feels like a playoff loss. It's absolutely demoralizing as a fan to see your team just pull it in during a game. Everyone I know is completely pissed at the team.

We'll get over it as long as they win the Super Bowl. Anything else is worthless.

That Manning benching was ridiculous. If you're going to play him beyond his streak keeping first series, you keep him in until the game is in hand or utterly lost. Anyway, for my fantasy championship it all comes down to whether Fred Davis, TE for the Washington Redskins gets 42 or fewer yards and no touchdowns. If he gets 43 yards and a TD I'm toast.

I understand that Caldwell wants to stay healthy for the playoffs... but momentum for the team is a part of keeping your team playoff fit. Not to mention the poor fans. You're going to throw a home game in front of people you charge money to watch? And yes, 16-0 is a worthy goal. Even though NE lost the Super Bowl, that team is and will be remembered. Ultimately it's the fans that matter, and I know those fans would love a 16-0 feather in their cap, and obviously the players would too. But hey, if you think your home crowd booing you mercilessly while Manning paces around looking like he wants to kill you somehow helps your team more than another quarter and a half of effort in a game you're paid millions to win... more power to you, jackass!

And everyone knows fantasy championships are all week 16 so that people don't get screwed by resting players. It's god damned unamerican to take Manning out when Championship games hang in the balance.

P.S. Cardinals dude... really... 4 nonsensical WOOOOOO CARDINALS posts in a row?

3 weeks in a row, all Denver needs to do is stop one more drive (after doing it all game) in order to have a great shot at winning. 3 weeks in a row, they've screwed the pooch. Dammit. I will give them credit for making it a real game the second half rather than letting the Eagles continue their massacre. They're still in the playoff hunt, but they need some help. Playing with the Yahoo scenario thing, they aren't as dead as I thought, but they're not in as good of shape as they would be had they won.

I'm not sure how I should judge this season: Should I judge it compared to what it should have been (a complete and utter train wreck) or what it was building up to be (a season for the ages in the Broncos-nation).

San Diego..SUPER chargers!!!

Rob

Look dude, I have nothing against the Chargers. In many situations, I'd be quite likely to root for them. But doing this shit every week just gets so irritating its making me hate the Chargers. I get it, you want to gloat. The problem is that nobody was really talking shit about them to begin with so you're not trash talking with anyone. You're just making mosquito noises once a week. Seriously, stop.

Now see JM. He's gloating and trash talking (and posting way too many times in a row, seriously dude, what's up with that?). That's the way to handle it (except the multipost thing, of course).

Personally, I think that team will start doing poorly once Warner leaves, but he can enjoy it while he can (although the division does suck. It's probably one of the least impressive divisions to win. A team could theoretically make the playoffs with 6 wins there).

3 weeks in a row, all Denver needs to do is stop one more drive (after doing it all game) in order to have a great shot at winning.

Then again, all the Eagles had to do was not give up 17 points in the second half to win the game :p

You guys had a good comeback, but the Eagles do have a lot of weapons and a defense that can clamp down when it needs to and had no reason to lose this game.

Bring on the Cowboys next week.

I was really hoping Denver would pull through for the sole reason that it would be something to hang over the head of my manager (who's an Eagles fan) tomorrow. Oh well.

On the up shot, the Packers have finally clinched their wild card slot! I didn't have much doubt in my mind that they would though. I remember that beating we gave Seattle two years ago at Lambeau and was expecting a repeat performance. The Pack certainly didn't disappoint. Hell, we beat them worse this year than we did back in '07.

Tell me about it. I only normally root for them twice a year and they blew it. I know it was a longshot to beat the Cowboys, but, considering they're supposed to be their greatest rivals, they could at least have shown some heart and not gotten blown out.

Outside of the Dallas game, everthing went about as good as I could hope for on Sunday (game-wise, not so much fantasy-wise). After their emabarrasing defensive showing last week, my Packers looked pretty good. Granted, it was only Seattle, but you take what you can get.

I don't say this too often, but Go Bears!!

The Vikings goings belly-up in Chicago would really make my week.

As most of you took pains to point out, I haven't had much to cheer about over the years. Perhaps you could just indulge me with an "Isn't that cute?" mentality, rather than inaccurately labeling my posts "nonsensical."

"Sense I am making always, Yoda."

Five posts in a row is a bit excessive. Use multiquote or face a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty. Thanks.

I was responding to separate posts, and doing people the courtesy of addressing them directly ... but your instructions are noted.

Since five is "a bit excessive," I'll keep it down to four subsequently. ;)

Jingoism aside, I actually think the Packers may well benefit from playing the Cards two weeks in a row, if such occurs. They'll be quite accustomed to the stadium, and a good long look at such a prolific offense will only stand them in good stead. Bad luck for the Redbirds, I'd say.

Frankly, I think I'd rather play the Cowboys in the wildcard round—unless the Eagles and Vikings collapse and allow Arizona to grab the number two seed (assuming AZ has the tiebreaker over Philly, of course).

Yeah, I don't think so either.

Think the fact there are sports fans on a message board populated by STAR TREK fans is..well...a miracle. So with that in mind? Twenty-five posts in a row wouldn't really get me mad in the sports forum.

Something tells me there won't be a Super Bowl appearance for the Colts this year.

Hey, on this board, someone told me chess was as violent of a sport (?!?!?!) as football. Most people don't know that Bobby Fischer actually disappeared from the chess world because of a torn ACL.
