NFL Football 2009

Pats win, less than convincingly. But the Jets and Dolphins losses mean if New England wins next week (when I'll be in attendance), they win the division.

They've been winning less than convincingly for much of this season, and their second half woes continue.
In truth, the AFC East is a weak division, and as much as I love this team, if they don't right their ship soon, a team like San Diego will likely brutalize them in the playoffs.
I'm concerned about this weeks game as well...

My thought is that they will win a playoff game, then get blown away the following week at Indy or SD.

I hope their O and D lines get healthy in a hurry.

As a charger fan i hope they rest the big guns when we play the titans on XMAS day. Then, if we need to, win the redskins game in the final week. A charger win and or pat loss will seal second seed for the chargers...

Rob
As a TITAN fan I hope that happens also. Especially since we are officially losing Keith Bullock(ACL) and David Thorton(knee) off the Defense.

Titans need Broncos to lose its last two and Baltimore to lose one of its last two + Titans win out based on that Yahoo Playoff Scenario generator in order for us to get the Wildcard slot.

I have always liked the Titans so i hope you guys get in. I also know you guys play physical tough ass football, so that is why I hope we kind of let our big guns rest. We need LT for the playoffs, and the Titans are a bit too rough, and more hungry this week, so I want no part of them.

Speaking of the Titans, has there been an explanation as to why Jeff Fisher decided to let the clock dwindle to 0 in the 4th against Miami eventhough he had several timeouts, and Miami was pinned to near their own endzone?
Why leave it to overtime?

Cheers.

bulluck being out of the game had a huge impact not just for the physical part he bought to the game but also because he was the leader and signal caller for the defense.

he has been coaching tulloch getting him ready for friday.

He knew that Miami also had their TO's left as well. The Bullock thing is true also. He said if Miami didn't have any timeouts he goes ahead and makes some attempts. If suddenly you burn 3 downs all inter spliced with TO's and then punt you give Miami the ball with one/two TO's and sideline routs thus giving them a chance.
He'd rather take his odds in OT, he did, it worked out.
Hope his plans work out for us tomorrow vs Chargers!

Wow. Kurt Warner's TD pass to lateral scoring change put my fantasy team into the championship game. Now I just need to figure out what to do with Tomlinson and Sproles this week. We get pretty good points for return yards in this league. After a couple of weeks I was just hoping that LT would get hurt so that Sproles would get more RB duty along with kickoff returns. LT has been a huge disappointment. My opponent has Vincent Jackson and Chris Johnson. Going to be a very interesting game for me to watch, and I won't even miss out due to lack of NFLN on Time Warner for once since the local team is involved.

For my championship game, first time all season I benched LT for Sproles. Turns out I made the right call, though maybe I should've started em both. Anyway, Rob Bironas and Darren Sproles have given my a small early lead over Chris Johnson and Vincent Jackson. Can't complain about that!

Well... actually I will. That fourth and 2 where the titans went for it, got it with CJ, then I believe ended with an INT... wish they would've kicked the field goal, would've been 4 pts in my league rules, maybe 5... And then CJ got a nice garbage time touchdown. At that point of the game the Chargers were handing it to the likes of Tolbert and Jacob Hester. I think Johnson's pursuit of records and the like is just a little over the top. The man is a great athlete, but he just talks and talks about how great he is, and how he's making his MVP case, and his teammates talk about how they want him to get records. Seems to me they lost focus on actually competing in a football game.

In other fantasy thoughts, that likely nobody here actually cares about , I'm a bit worried about Peyton Manning this weekend. Nothing to play for, against the #1 D in the NFL? I hope they don't make it the Jim Sorgi show. I guess I can't pickup waiver droppings to start this weekend... but I really need my Manning to put full effort this week. I'm just going to assume Peyton loves and cares for the people who draft him high in their money leagues.

The Titans made a heck of a run at it after starting 0-6.
Finishing 8-8 would be an achievement, heck even 7-9 cause lets face it not a Titan fan in town saw a 7 win season back during those first few weeks.

Time for me to start thinking about which of my second tier teams in both conferences I want to excel.

The fact that Jim Sorgi is out for the year and the backup is rookie Curtis Painter may keep Peyton Manning in the game a bit longer if the Colts need him. I just don't see the team quitting on the undefeated season at this point. There's a different attitude than in year's past held by the players that I notice when they're interviewed on local television. I could be wrong but I think they're going for it.

That's good news for me. I forgot about Sir Sorgi going injured reserve. I really want this league championship! The $90 difference between 1st and 2nd doesn't hurt either, but I want the title!

I hope Niners' fans enjoyed their wins over Arizona this year, because if you think it's a precursor to dethroning the Cards next season, I'll sell you the Golden Gate Bridge.

In short: Ain't ... gonna ... happen.

That's two division titles in a row, something this franchise hasn't done since Jim Hart was throwing to the original Mel Gray in the mid-70's. Look forward to a five-year reign, NFC Westerners, because that's at least how long you'll be kissing the Cardinals' rings. :techman:

Oh, and ... where are those Seahawks' fans who last year promised to do us in, and short of that, guaranteed AZ wouldn't repeat because they were a one-season wonder?

[A cricket chirps.]

I fuckin' thought so.

Can't wait to see who's up for their beatdown in the wildcard round.

^I did enjoy the two wins, but that's all they were. Not entirely sure why you're getting so defensive about it because from this Niner fan, the team looked terrible (especially on Offense) all season and would really suck if they had made the playoffs. I just hope in the Draft next year they focus on getting bodys for the offensive line. Defense is good, and I am willing to give Smith a good shot, but that offensive line needs a lot of help. Protect Smith, and then judge to see if he is any good or not. Because he has no protection, it's hard to really say at this point.

Wow. A cocky Cardinals fan? How does that shit happen? I guess a Super Bowl appearance brings 'em out of the woodwork. With a little luck maybe the Packers will beat down Arizona in their shiny stadium two weeks in a row.

When you win the division 7 years in a row, then give us a call.

:)
