Fox News: 120% Of The Public Thinks Scientists May Falsify GW Data

This is quite possibily the worst 'news' channel that ever existed in the history of the universe.

I don't think these guys are even CAPABLE of telling the truth anymore. In fact, I'm not at all certain they are living in the same space/time continuum as the rest of us.

It would explain much. Mark my words -- it will come out that these emails were tampered with somehow. The folks who want to discredit climate change have the financial resources and incentive to do such a hatchet job.

I guess those on the opposite side of the debate forget how the GOP and their allies influenced the 1972 elections by using the CRP (Committee to Reelect the President) to ruin the rep of stronger Democratic challengers like Edmund Muskie with the forged Canuck Letter -- tactics known as r*t-f***ing (fill in the asterisks). It wasn't an accident Nixon faced McGovern.

Also, the tobaccco industry used similar tactics in what's known as manufactured doubt today to cloud the obvious evidence that cigarettes cause cancer, esp. the infamous "seven dwarfs" appearance by the heads of the seven major tobacco companies before Congress where they flat-out denied the link. This was despite the fact much of their own research indicated the link.

Those who favor profits over people have and continue to engage in sophisticated, well-funded disinformation campaigns like this latest attack against the science of climate change. And given that in a recent Gallup poll, 18% of American respondents thought the sun revolved around the Earth, it's not surprising that the feeble-minded in the U.S. without a basic grasp of science can be fooled by these obfuscation tactics.

Well, when the human race drowns in its own crap and causes its own extinction, the Earth will continue and evolution will start over, probably with the bees.

While we're on the subject, it wouldn't hurt to have a scientist or two on hand before publishing science or medicine related stories, as well.

Or at least someone who can look at a series of numbers that are supposed to add up to 100 and see that they don't.

I don't think you need to have gone to college to figure out that if your poll adds up to more than 100%, you have a problem. Just me?

Marian

Precisely. They must've gone to the Yogi Berra math school. Yogi once famously said, "The game of baseball is 90% mental. The other half is physical." Oh, baseball = 180%, just like that poll equaled 120%. A revelation! -- RR

Oh, I forgot! OK, the beetles, then! BTW, since no one else in this thread has pointed it out, Rasmussen Reports isn't that credible a poller, either. Their polling methodology has been called into question, and their founder is a conservative who has been accused of fitting the "data" his polls glean to conform to his political views. In other words, cooking the books. More epic fail from Fox and Rasmussen. Excellent. -- RR

What I find odd about fox news is that fox news is very conservative biased.....but the fox network shows the most unconservative stuff one can imagine. :rommie:

That's not odd. Money comes before conviction every time with people like Murdoch. If the American people suddenly collectively decided that socialism is a wonderful idea and conservatism fell out of favour completely, Fox News would switch in that direction faster than you could say "ka-ching".

Whatever happened to ahem.... Rathergate? See? It works both ways! And that was only 5 years ago. We didn't have to go back all the way to the 70's did we?

As far as the weather issue, it's more likely that it's a sham that these eggheads and politicians stand to make billions of dollars off than anything else.

Whatever happened to ahem.... Rathergate?
It pretty much ended when they fired the people responsible. Fox News however...

Oh look! They fuck up ANOTHER poll.

Naturally. The scientists are wrong and this is all a giant conspiracy. Well done. The American Petroleum Institute (who is running ads denouncing anything green) is truely an objective voice.

These things happen, your know?

Jon Stewart: So, in attacking scientists for falsifying data to support global warming, you've cited a poll that adds up to 120%.

Watch as the Daily Show rapes your face and pretty much calls Gretchen Carlson a dumb whore...that or Fox's viewers are all a bunch of dumb whores who don't know the meaning of simple words. .

You could try linking videos that actually appear in more than one country.

I partiuclarly admire the use of the word 'somewhat' in a poll, when absolutely nobody knows what the fuck it means.

I find the clock in the corner to be highly accurate.

It's only accurate 142% of the time.

"Somewhat" is standard wording on 5-point Lickert scales. It's a middle point between the extreme end of the spectrum and the neutral position. The public understands what it means in that context.

I bet you 50 quatloos and a bio-neural gel pack they don't.

^^ How many times have you seen, indicate your agreement with X:

5 Strongly agree
4 Somewhat agree
3 Neutral
2 Somewhat disagree
1 Strongly disagree

It's an accepted format that is well understood by the public. The words fit into a spectrum. It's been tested and retested. It works. It's practically ubiquitious.

I strongly agree with Mr Awe.

To be honest, i'm not sure what the difference between "somewhat agree" and "somewhat disagree" would be.

To me "somewhat" means partially, so if one can somewhat agree with something, then they can somewhat disagree with the same thing.
