Listening to the Season(or Series) 4 of the Doctor Who soundtrack got me wondering...
First it was the brilliant music by Murray Gold, and then the series itself which I think is beyond brilliant....(Even Trek hasn't gotten that good....yet). The series just built on its long history and, well....it's brilliant.
I gather that if Russell T. Davies was involved we would have gotten everything that Abrams put into the film: Reckless Kirk, Spock and Uhura, duty skirts/go-go boots, sexy crew and feel throughout the film....a stronger story...
We also might have a gay or bi-sexual character....[Note: I've noticed some of the fan films trying to put in a gay or bi-sexual character, and it almost seems like they were trying to make a statement; Davies would have made it as something that is normal, I think--for lack of a better term].
I think it would have incensed some fans, as it would have been too sexy: There are some who seem to be afraid of female sexuality and sex in general...i.e. 'They should wear pants! No skin should be shown! There is no sex in Trek!'
....And I think there are those who would claim that there would be an 'agenda' if Davies put a gay character in the mix....
Basically, I think Davies would have did what Abrams had done, but make it a few times better, because he is just that talented....
EDIT: I probably didn't mention it earlier in my post, but Russell T. Davies is the (or was) the producer/writer for the Doctor Who continuation that started around 2005.
