Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of a man stuffed down a garbage shoot. Things get complicated when both his wife and fiance come in to identify the body.

Not sure why the cops didn't think of the boss when it was revealed he knew of the industrial espionage despite playing stupid earlier.

Okay, forget what I said about not wanting them to contrive ways to bring Alexis into the squad room more. She was great here. She got her own mystery, and she even got her own "epiphany triggered by some random thing somebody else said" moment. Now I'm thinking spinoff. Her own show where she tracks down the owners of unclaimed property and helps them achieve closure, and maybe solves some cold cases along the way. :D

I would give my left nut and half of what I ever made to have a daughter like Alexis. How the frack did she end up so normal and responsible and... just nice!?! Her pop and "Grams" are both... well... looney toons...

I seriously love this show, I really need to buy Season 1 on DVD - even my mom has gotten into this show in a big way.

But I tell ya, that was one twisty mystery. I totally did not see the last 15 minutes coming. I suspected that boss too, but I didn't suspect that the other gal was another double. That was unexpected. I love this show.

I am totally with you about this show... And I already got S1!

I missed the reason why Alexis was at the station. Was it some sort of internship or school-related placement that Beckett helped set up? I wonder if her gig in the file room will continue or that was just a one-episode thing.

Good episode for sure. I too did not see the fiance being a double either. She was tricksy, false! :D

Tricksy and hot!

Alexis is just gathering intel on the police. She's going to be the main villain for the final season. :p

I think it was a school project. I recall a discussion about how she could've chosen various other internship possibilities, but chose the police because of her familiarity with Beckett. I suspect it was just a temporary thing, because of Castle's line about Alexis retiring back to the 11th grade.

I like it that they're setting up a relationship between Beckett and Alexis. That would be nice to explore more.

I think what made it work so well was the weight they gave her involvement. She didn't solve a case. She didn't change the world. She just made herself useful and did something thoughtful - both things completely in line with her character as presented so far.

Fun seeing "Principal Wood" again. :D

And Castle is SO falling in love with Beckett. He sees his daughter's potential in Beckett - the things he loves and respects in Alexis are continually showing up in Beckett.

*sigh*

I find this show SO delightful to watch. I always save it for last in my Monday shows playlist, and I often watch each episode at least twice.

Oh, and it was a 3-day public service internship for Civics class. Martha suggested "fire" because "they have the best calendars." ;)

I think I enjoyed the secondary story involving Castle, Alexis and her going to work at the station more than the primary murder investigation. Overall, not a bad episode though (about average).

I enjoyed the somewhat surprised look he had on his face when he saw Alexis the first morning dressed in slacks, a blouse, and leather jacket. Anybody else get a "Beckett starter kit" vibe?

Another solid offering that was fun to watch.

Yeah, I like the developing relationship between Alexis and Beckett.

In the meantime, I've put in an order for HEAT WAVE at our local library . . . .

I never noticed it, but she did dress very Beckett-like, didn't she?

This is definitely one of my favourite shows at the moment. :techman:

I didn't care for the pilot, but have come to never miss this show now.

Great chemistry between the leads without being too over-the-top about it. I loved two weeks ago when Susan Sullivan brought out her headshots from the 70's and 80's. I was in love with that actress for a few decades.

Overall, I like that despite the crimes, there's a really nice gentleness to the show. It's just really "comfortable" and well-written and performed.

The look on Castle's face at the end of the episode when he's looking at his daughter talking to the young woman is a perfect blend of pride and love.

Great show.

I love this show. It's so much fun. Nathan Fillion is just so easy to like. He's a natural. So far they've managed to nick all the good things about Moonlighting without the over-the-top craziness. Let's hope it stays on this side of the line...

I bought a copy for my wife for Christmas.

Shhh!

:guffaw:

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw the promos for this series: How many Moonlighting specs will be rewritten and submitted. (or how many stories pitched)?

Very easy to tone down one of those and make it into a Castle. I thought about doing it with one my own Moonlighting specs.

Finally got to see this episode and enjoyed it a great bit. Was glad to see the role Alexis played in it, she's really something isn't she. Castles look of pride at the end was priceless to. I love the catfight part and the other detectives wanting pictures. That was funny. This show has really stepped up to the plate now, I started watching it because of Nathan Fillion, but it's really come into its own.
