Once again you miss my point (as in another thread). The only true way to complete an episode is for it to live up to the dreams, expectations, plans and desires of it's producer(s). That means, by your own admission, there is only ONE way to complete this, as you, with your many "options" are not in the category above.

It's like anything else in life. GM designs a car, they may (or may not) take customer input into the process... but when they are past any input stage, the project manager decides how things will be done and what the final design is. At that point, there is one method, and other, non-involved people's "options" are then entirely irrelevant.

In this case, the only way it's going to be done is the way that satisfies Jimm. That's the way that particular deal is set up. I get frustrated with the delays like everyone else, but there are two ways to go with a fan production: 1) you can tie your post-production to a specific release date, knowing that you might have to cut corners here and there to do it (Blood and Fire PT 2) or 2) you can simply say "screw it" when it comes to any kind of deadlines and make sure everything is as nearly perfect as you can make it before you release it. Jimm and Co. have chosen door #2 and I respect that completely.

I'm directly involved in this process, and have been for six years now. Maurice is right.

LOL... I remember that video! (And Barbreader, I was totally joking... I will patiently wait forever, if necessary, for Exeter to be finished. It's been perfect so far; I'll gladly wait for the conclusion to meet Jimm's standards.)

I first saw that video this week, and I was hoping for the opportunity to post it... I admit it. I'm not new to Star Trek, but I'm new to the world of it's legendary fans.

I hope it's not just me, but I enjoyed seeing and hearing the Exeter and its characters discussed for the first time in quite a while. Nice work indeed!

How many years has this been in production? Were all the scenes filmed at the same time and it's been a matter of editing, etc.? Or have they continued filming now and then all this time, the result being we'll see the characters with noticeable age differences (that have nothing to do with the story) in various scenes?

Principal photography was wrapped up years ago, so it's a matter of putting the finishing touches on the thing.

Well, end of the year was an exciting prospect a few months ago, but, alas, a new year has begun....

It will be exciting to see to most anticipated, most longly waited for Star Trek conclusion of all time, won't it?

:) What do you suppose will happen in that final act?

    Oh, I could tell you...

Anyway, I'd just as soon that no one (including our staff) invents any more speculative deadlines or make-believe competitions. It invites other people to behave badly and it's a nuisance.

I've made guesses in the past but I'm going to refrain from now on until I know something specific. That said, I'd be surprised if the thing's not out sometime this year.

My work on it has been almost completely done for some time. All of my project time now goes into Polaris.

The "Starship Exeter" website is down. It was there only a few days ago, I recommended it to a friend - and now it's a promotional page for MobileMe.
