Did not see Brent's usual thread so I will add it I guess, will add the pool later

Hmm, again another episode where something brought through the gate in a previous episode is the culprit, is there a pattern here? Otherwise, not to bad, but getting sick of the camcorder...err I mean Kino shots.

Has everyone stopped watching?

You know for a moment there, I thought they were in trouble.

Rush being funny...weird.

As time shennanigans go, this one was decent. Though, we do a Star Trek reset button...none of what we saw happened to the characters we will be following next week.

So...so much for character moments, huh?

I came on this baord after the show and thought i would find a 3 to 4 page commentary thread, but there was nothing at all, weird.

I don't mind reset buttons if we're given a chance to explore avenues that aren't compatible with the rest of the series. Things like watching Eli mourning the death of Chloe give an opportunity for the actors to break out a little bit and explore a bit more range.

Overall, I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. Especially the end. No need to insult anyone's intelligence by showing the solution implemented. Scott did what was needed and tossed the kino through the stargate and ... fade to black. We can trust the cast to do the rest.

Sorry guys, i've been pretty sick lately, I wasn't up to working a thread and watching it live tonight, been away from the computer all day, but I did watch the episode.

So, basically, all the character building and growth we just had in this episode was all reset and washed away. I absolutely hate that. I hate resets. Blah

Other than that major plot I disagree with, the action was kind of good, and I liked the twist about the infection coming from the water they got on the ice planet, good little twist there, didn't see that coming.

They should have let the episode end with the first Kino time travel thing, they could have had a few people die, get very emotional and re-write it so Chloe and the main cast didn't die of course, but just some extras and maybe one semi-regular person we've seen, and leave the episode with that, them finding the cure, but having to live with the fact that getting water from the ice planet cost them lives on the ship. What a thing that would have been to have to live with, and would have make this episode A+. How it stands, with the reset, it gets a C at best.

I enjoyed this episode, but the end just wasn't to my liking. I guess I'm old fashioned and like to see the situation buttoned up. But that's me, I notice more folks nowadays prefer having the "fade to black" ending (and the preview clearly shows everything worked out).

There were definitely great character moments, both in the Kino recording and on the "present time" Destiny scenes. Eli's scene with Chloe was fantastic and Scott's reaction when he woke up was really well done.

I do agree the "reset" button was very "Trek" but at the same time it doesn't negate what we saw and what we "know" the crew went through. It was an interesting character piece because we got to see how these characters would react under those circumstances, and while it may not matter to those characters within the greater context of the series, it does matter for us as the audience knowing a bit more about how our characters would react in horrible situations.

It was also neat to see a reference to the Stargate/Solar Flare thing. Having just seen the SGA ep with that a week ago it's still fresh in mind and it's a reference I'm glad I was reminded of before seeing this ep. :)

Re: SG-U – Time (1x08) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS)

I thought it was pretty decent myself. I felt like the characters felt a little more fleshed out here, and I think what we learned about them was more important than what they themselves learned so I didn't feel too cheated by the reset. Plus, I like how they ended it without showing the endgame. Though how they react to *that* kino might be interesting.

My favorite part was when Eli reiterated that Rush is indeed crazy and Rush could only acquiesce.

EDIT: Looks like I had some similar thoughts to God Magnus above...

Re: SG-U – Time (1x08) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS)

True it was a reset button, but hopefully the characters will continue to be affected by the video(s) of what had happened. If they just blow off the consequences of what they saw, then I'll be disappointed. I know that would freak the shit out of me if I saw myself really die on a video and know that it didn't happen.
I'm giving it an 8, but on the assumption that the events will have some future ramifications.

It was decent enough, but I hated the reset button ending. Mostly because they got my hopes up that Chloe was actually dead and then they ripped that hope away. Bastards.

5 Chevrons. Decent, but very forgettable.

This is the first episode that's actually felt like Stargate to me. Not a bad thing. It's about time the show found itself.

Very reminiscent of "Window of Opportunity", only played for tragedy instead of comedy.

Re: SG-U – Time (1x08) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS)

I suppose Butch Cassidy Rush is still out there somewhere, wonder if he'll ever pop up again...

Man, if they'd just killed off a few people and left it at that, what a series-changing episode that would have been. I would have even forgiven a few dead red-shirts on the return trip through to the planet, if it would only have kept Chloe dead. Not that I hate Chloe, so much as I'd have liked to see everyone dealing with all the dead folks for the rest of the season.

I just can't bear the thought that this might turn into Voyager. I say wipe out half the main cast and crew over the next year or two and then send in replacements from Earth to shore up the shattered crew members (contrive something to strand the newcomers unexpectedly, of course). Make them suffer before you let them die. They should spend the next two years in a struggle just to survive. Attrition, baby!

No, we see his body on the recording after the first time travelling kino exits the affected Stargate, that's how they realize for sure it went to the same planet but in the past. Those skeletal remains were Rush's.

I give this episode an 8.

Very interesting episode but the standalone nature of the episode brings the rating down from a 10.

Didn't like the return to the jungle sets, but the rest turned out to be pretty good, especially the ending which was a creative touch. Constant resets until the problem was solved. 7 chevrons.

- I totally forgot about what effect a solar flare has on the gate and was wondering what caused the time travel.

- We also found out what Eli's mom has. What a way to get HIV.

- I noticed TJ snickering a bit when Eli confessed his "friendship" to Chloe. Poor guy.

I came on this baord after the show and thought i would find a 3 to 4 page commentary thread, but there was nothing at all, weird.
Except for the pilot episode, these threads have always had only a few posts on Friday night. People trickle in all weekend as opposed to all at once.

The current crew that will continue on didn't see the events we saw. They only saw the most recent recording that Lt. Scott made. Everything we saw was only seen by the previous iteration. In fact, there were other iterations and most likely other recordings before that which will remain a mystery to both the crew and the audience.

This is the first episode that's actually felt like Stargate to me. Not a bad thing. It's about time the show found itself.
It did, didn't it, but I consider that a bit of a backslide. I don't want to see the show slip too far back into the Stargate of old.

ahh oops, I figured I missed something, that's what I get for surfing while the show's on...

I remember the solar flare angle from the SG-1 episodes "1969" and "2010".

8. Much better than last week. But, wow, what a downer. This was too dark for me. On its surface, it appears to be good dramatic material. But, the characters don't really solve the problem. They all die, sometimes multiple times. Fortunately, they have enough redos so that eventually they can get it right. I don't think they learn anything from it because none of it ends up happening.

Next week it appears we're back to the Earth soap. Blah!

Mr Awe

Here we go with the Aliens inspired thing again. They only have the ammo on their vest but an alien shows up and everyone switches their M4s and M16 to rock and roll:klingon:. Didn't they all get replaced with a new model limiting the shooter to 3 round burst like 20 years ago?:vulcan:
