Make Pike a bad guy...

NO way. Pike is a hero, and will always be one.

Is Bruce Greenwood even signed for Trek XII?

I don't remember if he has signed for the sequels like the others but I've read a couple of interviews where he talks for the sequel as if he will be in it and where he says that he expects and wants to continue being a mentor to Kirk.

Strangely enough, in an interview with JJ Abrams, he didn't exclude the possibility of Peter Graves appearing in MI:4
As who though? They already had Jon Voight play him in the first film. (And yes I KNOW Graves plyed him in the series.)

They should talk to Steven Hill, if he's still among the living!!

He's retired now. He was on Law & Order (Original) since the beginning until a few years ago. He was the old DA, Adam Schiff.

And maybe they can just forget/ignore the abomination called Mission: Impossible (the 1st movie). Greg Morris (the original Barney) walked out of the theater after an hour disgusted.
The first one had its moments, but instead of making it a Mission Impossible film, they made it a Tom Cruise film. MI was never about one guy, it was about the team and how they figure everything out..

They should forget all three and just start from scratch, and that includes dumping Cruise and getting a strong cast of lesser known, but superior actors.

Unfortunately, Cruise bought the rights to MI. This gave him the power to make whatever changes he wanted.
Any Tom Cruise movie always has 2 stars: TC and his ego.

^Go back to your closet and wait for Ian McKellan to premiere on The Prisoner!:guffaw:The preview ads look pretty good. I cannot wait to see it. What is your opinion so far, my friend? I think I was too young to appreciate the original; it seemed confusing at the time.

I am a huge Prisoner fan. This new thing looks good so far. I just wish they had gone with more than one Number 2. Having only one seems like a cheat. I will be glued to the set for this new one, though!!!

Have Pike take command of a remade USS Faragut, (make it a Constitution class :D), with his Number One and maybe Xon as his Science Officer. =3

Excellent! I'd love to finally see Xon appear in the canonical Trek universe. There's no reason why he can't in this Abrams verse. In fact, I want to see M'Ress and Arex done for the big screen!

Back on topic, I hope Greenwood comes back for the next film. I liked his portrayal of Pike. And now that this is 'sqaure one', he doesn't have to suffer that accident, and become Sean Kenney in a wheelchair anymore! Give him his own command, yes, I agree with you there.

But don't make him a bad guy.

I figured the wheelchair wasn't permanent--just temporary, while he recovers from his injuries. I mean, I udnerstood the wheelchair when Pike Prime's body was ravanaged by radiation in "The Menagerie". But in a universe with canonical nanotech, I find it difficult to believe they wouldn't be able to repair spinal cord damage.

Personally, I have a whole series inside my head where he's assigned to Starbase 12 as Sector Commander, and has a long-distance relationship with his former XO, who is now the captain of the Yorktown... :)

If they ever do show Number One in STXII, I continue to have fingers crossed for Jennifer Garner. But in a way, I almost hope they don't show her, so fans can imagine whatever future they desire for her and Pike.

I had a huge grin when Pike was in the wheelchair, because it was a nod to Menagerie. I am sure it will not be permanent, though. While his uniform did not match any of the other Admirals we saw, I liked the homage to my favorite Kirk uniform, as well.
One of my godsons has CP and is wheelchair confined. He is by no means a Trek fan, but I sent him a screencap of Pike in the chair and he liked it.:techman:

^ Probably the uniform that Pike is wearing (in the final scene) is the 'full dress' Admiral uniform, whereas the other admirals are wearing less formal duty uniforms. I don't know what the Navy calls this.

The other admirals were wearing potato sacks.
I agree.

Kelso answered this question: potato sacks.
It would be logical for ALL admirals to be wearing the same type uniform. If Pike is wearing 'full dress' then all the admiralty should be wearing the same uniform at the same function.

I can see why one would have the sense that if Pike is brought back it will be to give his story some closure. He's the guy who, if you know Trek, brings a certain sense of foreboding with him when he appears: He Does Not End Well.

I don't know if he'll die, and I don't know if he'll wind up in a beeper chair. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that at some point he'll plunge heedlessly into a dangerous situation to "drag as many kids out as he can" just to give Trek fans a little frisson of anxiety.

Robert April will be the villain in the next movie. His son was doing research in an Iowa quarry when a car fell on top of him and killed him. Because of that, April lost it, never became a starship captain and had to leave Starfleet. Now he wants his revenge!

Robert April will try to kill every character one by one by using cannons and nothing but cannons. :p

potato sacks.

Does that phrase have some meaning I'm not aware of?
Kelso said that, actually, not Sector 7, but I don't think it has any other meaning in this context than what the words say. The coarse texture and squared shoulders do sorta remind of burlap sacks of the type which might contain a hundred pounds of potatoes.

It occurs to me that, while they do indeed hold the rank of admiral, we see them sitting as members of a Starfleet Academy faculty review panel, and I figured those "potato sack" outfits might be the 23rd-century equivalent of the academic robes worn today by the big cheeses at serious university functions. (Some of those robes approach fashion crimes, in my experience, so these unflattering outfits would be in keeping with tradition.)
