Have those who disliked the Abramsprise finally accepted design?

why does it bother you the design of the Abramsprise.
Because it's ugly and looks like a parody of the original. Because I've seen at least two fan designs that updated the original good enough for the big screen that stuck much closer to the original design. Because in an interview, Abrams went on about how iconic the original Enterprise was and you can't change it much, and somehow ended up with that.

Well, I disagree that she looked like a parody of the iconic original.

But even if she would have been intended to look like a parody... well that can look pretty great too: just have a look at the Protector in Galaxy Quest (the best Star Trek-film made since TWOK and before Star Trek).

That probably the main reason that bugs me about the movie: the gaping difference between what was said and what was really done. And how most of the concept art is truly excellent, but something inferior was used instead.

In the words of James Kirk: 'Bullshit.'

So smart.

well because they wanted to change the interior and exterior of the USS Enterprise what more do you want them to do and is it too late to change the design inside of the Enterprise.
It's definitely too late, unless they want to so something hilarious like rebooting the reboot. Here are two of the three fan redesigns I liked:

Ironically I liked the Protector, to an extent anyway. But then "Galaxy Quest" was always intended to be a parody and the ship's design kind of reflected that.

USS Dissenterprise

Yeah, I made up the pun just now. I'll think of a good reason for it later.

Two beautiful models by two very talented artists, but no, this 60s minimalistic design approach just doesn't fly anymore today.
It didn't work anymore when they redesigned the Enterprise for TMP and doesn't so even more today.

As a fan I'd 'jizz in my pants' were I to see the old lady in a modern film on the big screen.
But lets be realistic, times change and so do aesthetic views and expectations. There is nothing wrong with changing a great design.
If Star Trek survives we will see a new design approach eventually again.

There's always room for improvement: nothing's perfect.

I loved the new Enterprise when I first saw it, even though I was surprised by how large the nacelles were. Personally I would've changed the redesign to move the nacelle pylons backwards, so the slopes on the bottom of them would completely segue into the shuttlebay.

Eh?
Yeah, I think that redoing the Mona Lisa, but with Pamela Anderson in a yellow polka-dot bikini in front of dogs playing poker would be cool. All painted on black velvet! And we can still put it up in a gallery, sell tickets, and tell people they're going to be seeing the Mona Lisa. Enough people enjoy seeing Pamela Anderson in minimal clothing that there'll certainly be some folks happy about it. After all, the original Mona Lisa isn't nearly as "hawt." ;)

And if anyone DOES complain about this not being the original, and about it being a bait-and-switch, well... the original painting isn't "today" enough. Not "hip" enough, not "happening" enough. And if anyone keeps complaining just repeatedly ask "why do you hate women?"

Okay, why would you want to change a great design?

A better question would be, why not?
Why should we not try to do something new?

So long as the original is still there you didn't loose one great piece of art but gained another piece of... art.

Well, technically it would be that no-one will be allowed to 'restart' those franchise again, which I actually agree with.

But the Enterprise is NOT the Mona Lisa, nor will it ever be, and I don't understand how one could compare the two.

And the production crew never said this was intended to be a carbon copy of the original Star Trek, but rather an different take on it. Abrams said multiple times that this movie wasn't made for just Trek fans, but for movie fans as well.
