If it was untried and untested, shouldn't they have done some tests using inanimate objects just in case it turned out something like "The Fly" instead of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?"
Have those who disliked the Abramsprise finally accepted design?

Why? Willy Wonka and the Chocoloate Factory are funny, the scene is just fine.

Because the scene is out of place and not really funny, probably because it's out of place and doesn't come off as something natural at all. I guess I'd call it "forced."
Nah, this movie made a huge return to the humor of TOS and the scene fit with the rest of the film, though hopefully we don't get a Revenge of the Fallen treatment with all the slapstick when they do the next film, UGH!

A lot of the humor in TOS was out of place, too. It seemed like the most horrible thing could happen, like the planet killer destroying whole solar systems, and there would still be joking around going on at the end of the episode. And considering all the things JJ Abrams said about things like that being "kiltch," it's somewhat hypocritical of him to basically do the same kind of thing.
It's force in between those two "heavy" scenes because the people who made the movie thought it was needed to break them up. With everything that was going on, the apparently thought it would be awesome to have Scotty end up in a waterslide due to technology hijinks. Kind of like the stuff with Kirk and McCoy and that virus business and the bar fight (both examples of physical, "slapstick" comedy along with the tube scene), or the "parking break" joke which basically made Sulu look like an idiot and gave Spock an excuse to spout off some of that evil technobabble a lot of people seem to keep saying they hate.
Still not big on the design, or the apparent size of it and other ships in this 'verse. The design, overall, is OK but I still think that simply using the Classic Design with some minor tweaks -mostly in the areas of textures and details- it would've been fine.
Whatever, I've accepted that this movie takes place in a whole new universe with no -no, no- connection to the one I've loved for oh so many years.

I wasn't a fan of the design when they published that first picture and I'm still not a fan now months after seeing the film.
Overall the design isn't god-awful but it honestly looks like the aborted offspring of the original and the refit to me. Hyperbole I suppose but there it is.
Like others I'm in the camp that would have loved to see a slightly tweeked version of the original on the big screen. Preferably like Vector or deg3D's models in the TrekArt forum.

I wonder if the design will already be updated in XII, the ship was designed for refits in mind after all.

why does it bother you the design of the Abramsprise.
Why do you always ask these "why do/does..." questions? People have detailed what they did and didn't like many times over. Have a read every now and again and all your questions will be anwered.

Because it's ugly and looks like a parody of the original. Because I've seen at least two fan designs that updated the original good enough for the big screen that stuck much closer to the original design. Because in an interview, Abrams went on about how iconic the original Enterprise was and you can't change it much, and somehow ended up with that.
That probably the main reason that bugs me about the movie: the gaping difference between what was said and what was really done. And how most of the concept art is truly excellent, but something inferior was used instead.

That's true enough. I've mentioned before how the new design looks like something that would show up in a cartoon comic strip parody because they couldn't get away with using the 'classic' design.
