Beverly and Jean-luc

Jean-Luc

Ensign
Newbie
I love that Jean-luc and Beverly are married and are expecting a child in "Losing the peace." When did they get married? During the Destiny trilogy, right? (I haven't read it yet.)

Actually, the marriage takes place "offscreen" between the events of "Before Dishonor" and "Greater Than the Sum". They're already married by the time we hear of it in GTTS :).

Hopefully the 25th anniversary of TNG will yield an anthology of TNG stories, one of which is the wedding. The same was done for Riker and Troi's honeymoon, IIRC.

Riker and Troi's honeymoon was in Captain's Table I believe. I'd like to see a new CT book personally.

I kinda skipped over Death in Winter, the book before Resistance where Picard and Beverly finally hook up. But the first scene with them together in Resistance they are in bed together and Picard has his nasty dream about the Borg. The funny thing that someone made me realize is that I didn't even find it weird that they were in bed together. It just felt it was suppose to be and it was some what normal, frankly I didn't give it a second thought until recently.

I agree. While I can understand why it was skipped over, I'd still love to be able to see it someday.

Me too. It's an important moment in their lives.
I'm, oddly, the exact opposite. I think that there are Trek fans who have built it up so much in their heads that the end result would be a let down.

Yeah, I'm in agreement about the wedding remaining offscreen. After all the things that happen in their lives, I would not begrudge them running off and just quietly getting married, no big ceremony or anything, just the two of them becoming husband and wife and that being the long and the short of it.

Besides, if the wedding were to be shown, invariably, something would have to occur to cause some kind of trouble (because that's the way dramatic stories work), and, really, given that we know that there wasn't some grand adventure taking place at the same time and that they did get married, we don't need a story about one or the other getting cold feet about it. Especially given that it's a marriage that took over a decade to happen...

^Except that Betazoids don't have a nudity taboo, and nudity is in fact mandatory at Betazoid weddings. So why would Deanna have a problem with strippers?

The real story's with the bachelor party....

I'm imagining something like Chases Bachelor party in House last year, of course with Will in the House role (although I know he's in the arse end of no where on Titan) and no Picard ending up in sickbay.

Sickbay? If Riker was running the BP you don't have to worry about sickbay. The brig however...

Nope, defiantly sickbay, if you've seen the episode you'll know what I mean!

We know exactly where Riker was in the time period where it's possible for JLP and Bev to have been married. The marriage happens in between Resistance and Before Dishonor, IIRC. According to MB, the stardate in the first chapter of Christopher's Orion's Hounds, 57137.8, the Titan crew was at the start of their new mission. That put's in February 2380. Picard and Crusher get married later in 2380 and Riker doesn't return to UFP space until Destiny I believe. So Riker couldn't have been there unless he was using a holographic avatar from really far away or if Q had a hand in it. Of course, I could have got the dates wrong, which would make this all mo0t...
