You know, I've been so fixated on gaining control of/understanding the ship's functions and the need for experts back home to use those blasted stones to help out, that it totally escaped me that the same could be done with the medical issues. So far, Tamara has managed to handle things, but if something happens that's beyond her training, then there's little drama to be had, since an experienced doctor can be transferred aboard to perform the life saving operation stat!


...Which of course will be when the stones lose power or suffer subspace interference, creating the actual drama.

Which, of course, included a healthy supply of razors (likely fancy electric razors due to their water shortage), towels, and designer sunglasses. These were probably packed by the same military suppliers that offered that package of hats in A Bridge Too Far.

Sorry, I just compared a solid Attenborough film that was making a point to Stargate Universe. I should go atone or something.

Battlestar Galactica is like Star Trek, Dr. Who, Stargate and Star Wars it's a franchise, but it's always the original that matters and is remembered the most since all the other versions are just that other versions, good or bad doesn't make much of a difference. In the end without the original paving the way there'd be no other versions, sequels or spinoffs.

Actually, it was strongly rated and consistently won its time slot; I don't know what the number of viewers were, but I'm sure it was higher than nuBSG ever got. But other than that, you're right; it was way too expensive and just as brain-dead as nuBSG in its own way.

Nonsense. The original BSG is a largely forgotten show from years ago and viewed as nothing more than cheesy crap by the majority who do remember it. The original is not comparable to Star Wars, Doctor Who, or Star Trek in any way, nor is doing a totally new remake of it the same as the ongoing franchises of any of these. Other than the title, and the names of some characters, there is almost nothing similar.
The closest comparable example is the new Star Trek movie, and even that made an effort to acknowledge the original timeline.
In 20, 30 years time, if BSG is remembered, it will be the new show. Because the original was awful and the new one was good, and is much more widely known, particularly outside genre circles.

The new series is critically acclaimed, well-loved for its storytelling and character drama, features fantastic acting and is full of stunning visuals. The old series is a campfest of gaudiness, horrible writing, worse dialogue, and blantantly rehashed special effects on a weekly basis.

Even more telling is the number of episodes of each. The new series beats the old series in both quality and quantity!

The only thing the old series will be remembered as -- and currently is remembered as -- is an example of what to not do on a sci-fi television series. It was a joke then and it's an even bigger joke now.

For one thing you totality missed my point for another the original Galactica was a mainstream show and while it was off the air for some 25 years it was still bought back, so no it was forgotten as you claim it was. And why would Bryan Singer by directing a movie based on the original series it was all that forgettable?

...which begs the question how the ship preserves bedding over millions (or hundreds of thousands) of years. How long would such items usually last (in "like new" shape)? Though, I suppose Merlin got preserved for a long time, so why not bedding...?

The ship is intelligent right? It probably stopped off at a planet full of semi-sentient terri cloth where there was a terrible drought. The towels agreed to dry the people if they could keep the water they collected of the showerer.
